Hello to all - just joined (thanks to Mark for intro). This seems like a good excuse to meet some fellow enthusiasts - not that I need an excuse as far as eating & drinking concerned. Please count me in and advise the necessaries. 'Cheers'  ... Ian

John, that table will have Lord Yolk in attendance(the artist formerly known as Eggmiester) and he's clueless about Durif as are many others here who push those tired old products from McLaren Vale and other places.

Rutherglen is yet to produce a bad Durif.

I married a woman who grew up in the Rutherglen/Yarrawonga/Mulwala/Corowa/Wangaratta wine district. It was a backwater to most people in Bleak City(Melb) but in the 7mid to late 70's Mick Morris and various others stuck with it and improved and invested in it.

 

Merlot it aint!

Same. I have my grandfathers cribbage board he made in the early 20's.

@Assisi  John, here's a fine example of a QLD knuckledragger and that means of course that he'd not be able to read the table tags if he ventures down to Bleak City. Our's reads: Elitists and Duriff drinkers only. Bugger off the rest of you.

Cambell's,such a good winery as is Morris's and Stanton&Killen and Pfiffer's and a host of others from up that way.

But there's such a big big big differential between 'drives' and 'operates', it's a chasm actually and drivers are many but operators are few and this segues over to 'excavators' as well.

When Rob181(or anyone else for that matter) goes to Kenards or Coates Hire he takes a machine away and attempts to 'drive' and will never 'operate' it.

I have a few Stanton Killen Durifs.   A couple of hours one day with Mick Morris tasting Muscat was an education besides being a few sheets to the wind afterwards.  Pfiffer wonderful.  We will talk at the dinner about wine and plants.  No need for the audio

Okay, have finally heard back from The Taphouse regarding how they accept payment.

They have limits on splitting  the final tab so best way looks to be transferring full cost of meal to me (like last 2 Years)  - Rather than just getting the main, think it much better to get the Entree as well for an additional $10 so the total would be $55 per head.

 

(We can choose two mains and 3 Sides from their list closer to the event.)

 

 

And I Quote: 

The $500 deposit goes towards your minimum spend on the day, in your case it would be taken off the Host a Roast menu total. We're unable to split payments more than 3 ways on the night, so I would advise maybe having your guests transfer you the $45 for their meal and handling payment this way as one full food payment. 

 

If you'd like to add an entree, this does apply to the full group. Guests are welcome to order desserts individually on the night if you would prefer.

The  Gapstead 99 Durif was one of my favorites.

Sadly hard to find, I think I drank most of them.

I'm not sure you need accelerates like that going out with these boys though.LOL
