Trouble shooting pixellation issues

Recommended Posts

Looking for some help with my topic please folks.

After the heavy winds in Melbourne this week, my 3 TV's have started to pixellate on sbs, 9, and 10.     2, and 7 are working fine.    I haven't ventured onto the roof for a close inspection but the Aerial looks fine.  Hasn't moved or spun.  No missing horizontal bars.    I live 5 kilometres west of Melb CBD.  Aerial is bulk standard digital version.

From memory there is an amp on the mast but no idea of the make, model at this time.  There is a splitter in the roof.  In my lounge, I have a Kingray PSK06F DC Power supply.

Any thoughts on whether it might be the Amp on the mast or the power supply in the lounge that has or is dying.  I presume if it was the cabling then all channels would be affected.

Ghosts in the Machine.   Got up on the roof today just to look at the Mast Amp and take some images of the make/model.  Opened the box and nothing looked amiss.

Phoned a local guy to come out Monday to do some testing.    Late this afternoon I turned on the TV and was watching Ch 7.   Surfed some more channels and all was right with the world.  No pixelation on any channel on any of my 3 TV's.

Go figure.

Now to cancel the man before he turns up and I have to pay for his petrol.

Yep spoke too soon.  It's back!

Lucky I didn't cancel the Man.    I'm thinking Amp issue.

I feel like I am talking to myself here so I might as well finish my story. 😀    New aerial installed today.    'The Man' suggested the original was well past its use by date.     It has been up for about 8-10 years and was a very El Cheapo model to start with.       New wizbanger aerial up and running.  All signals, all good.
