Extra Info: Excellent Amp. Superb sound. And a bit of a monster. 80 WPC. Vintage classic. Holds its own with a lot of modern amps. Fully integrated.

The WPC is true RMS wattage, not modern watts. This old beast will power hard to drive speakers with ease.

Just this week I had it hooked up to some HPM-900's and the guy took the 900's away with him. As much as I love this old beast, its time to let someone else share the love. I imported it privately from the states as it has the multi voltage input and does 240V natively. No step down trannies needed.

The tone switch has some dust in it and requires cleaning, as with all vintage jap gear, if one switch needs cleaning they all do. There are some marks on the fascia (see pics) due to it being mounted in a rack shelf...the price reflects this.

I've held onto this amp in case I ever wanted or needed mods on my other gear as its a really nice amp to listen to.

These Pioneer amps, along with Sansui and many other brands are appreciating in value like vintage cars. You can't easily buy old stuff, they dont make old hits anymore.

I could possibly kick myself for letting this one go to sale, I know I'll never get another for the price. You could hang out for a 9800, but how often does a local multi voltage unit of this calibre come up for sale that you can hear working?

I'm happy to post it but you get no promises that way. I'd prefer you come and hear it for your own ears, touch it, feel the touch of the switches and dials that you just dont get these days. The volume control is something to behold. Its tough, no nonsense Japanese 1970's stuff.

And it rocks hard.

I'd pefer you audition and pick it up from Ballarat, Vic but happy to post. It would be packaged as you'd expect. Extra insurance is up to you.

HiFi engine quote;

Pioneer believes in music. And if you do, too, you'll find a faithful friend in the new SA-9500; one of the most musically minded pre/main stereo amplifiers we've engineered.

It combines massive stereo output power with a delicacy of transparency; a rare blend in these days of lots of power at any cost.

In other words, we haven't simply beefed up the power section at the expense of the tonal quality, frequency response or other aspects so important to the sound of a high fidelity component.

The Pioneer SA-9500 does deliver an unusually large continuous power output of 80 watts per channel, min RMS at 8 ohms from 20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz with no more than 0.1% total harmonic distortion, but it also ensures that even when operated at low volumes the performance retains a crisp, sparkling clarity.

The dynamic response and reliability of the SA-9500 are matched with a flexibility of use you'll rarely find in this price range. Tone control versatility, for instance: both the bass and treble sections have 3-position turnover selection and there's a tone on/off switch for "flat" response at a touch.

The 2-step high and low filters, the extra convenient tape duplicating switching system, multiple input source selection, 2-system speaker switching and much more mean first-class handling.

We believe in music. And we're sure that if you do, too, you'll believe in the all-new SA-9500.
