Garypen
Appreciate some advice please. I currently have a Denon Heos Link HS1 streamer but it only supports 16 bit audio. Looking to upgrade to something that supports 24 bit and the Yamaha WXC-50 looks attractive at around $400. There is also the Heos Link HS2 at around $595. Would either of these give an noticeable improvement in sound or should I save up for a Bluesound Node 2 or similar? Any thoughts on Yamaha MusicCast vs the HEOS app? PauliD
Hey, do you need multi-room streaming? Demote the HS1 to the less important room and upgrade to the HS2 in the main room. Just an idea but that will cement your reliance on HEOS platform moving forward. If you not doing multi-room nows your chance to try something else BTW I could be interested in your HS1 if you choose to move to another wireless platform. Garypen
Thanks PauliD The HS1 is a great little unit IMO, better than the Sonos Connect I used to have. Currently I use it in my study with an old Yamaha AVR and a pair of B&W M1 speakers. Used to have the Yammy running from the digital outlet on my PC but I prefer the sound of the DAC in the HS1. Slighty warmer, smoother. Now I am building a new house and have three pairs of B&W CCM-663 ceiling speakers to go into the Family, Dining and Alfresco areas. They will be powered by a Rotel RMB-1066 distro amp so thinking about whether to repurpose the HS1 or go with something higher spec. The WXC-50 is tempting as it can be bought on eBay ATM for around $380.
