Hadcock GH228 Bias Weights

Recommended Posts

G'day all,

Not expecting too much success with this request, but one never knows considering the collected brains, ingenuity and experience of members of this forum.

I am seeking 2 x bias weights for my Hadcock tonearm, (don't ask it's a long story). At this point in time I don't want to consider washers as a replacement.

From my hunting on the web, there is little chance of finding them at all.

Any ideas?  If anyone has such a couple of beasts I am open to purchasing them at the right price.

Cheers

See if you can find the dimensions and get a machine shop to make them out of stainless.

Recently I needed to get a bias weight for my tonearm.  I was considering making one, and found that ProJect sell them as a part (3gram from memory).  I got one mail order from an audio shop in Fitzroy, about $16 incl. postage (I really have difficulty when the p+p costs more than the item!).

Cheers @audiofeline, much appreciated for the heads-up, I'll check it out.

Thanks @t-mike, also good advice, I will check that out as well.

I have the original inter-connecting GH-228 anti-skate weights (which are aluminium incidentally).

But I don’t have the original fishing line they attach to. This can be bought easily...

Just use really fine fishing line or silk.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my previous Post but I'm offering to sell the two weights to allthumbs.....

Can you please tell me the exact counting of a scale for each of the weights? Also if possible to be delivered in Greece i would be more than happy to buy them if still available!

I have a Hadcock GH-228 - do you need the exact weight of each weight?

I can weigh for you if that's what you need.

I can't fint my bias weight. If you are able to weight your two weights, it would be a great help. Thanks.

Hi @Ingolf - apologies, I just cannot locate the AS weights that go with my Hadcock GH228 tonearm, sorry.

I'll continue the search, they must be here somewhere.

Cheers, Owen

I have one of these boxed up somewhere. I believe that I have the weights. I will try to dig it out and let you know the details.

Decibel Hi Fi sell the current versions and could probably source the weights for you:

I have located my arm and........you guessed it, my AS weights are missing too.

Let me know how you get on finding replacements.

Found a suggestion on Vinyl Engine that it uses a two part bias weight of .85 gram per part.
