Ripping your CD's with EAC, you can set your 'normalize' rate to make the volumes equal.

itunes will do it as well for that matter..........but after the fact.

Where do I find the normalize facility in iTunes? I'm running iTunes 10.0.0.68 on a Windows based PC but I can't find that function. :P Would be handy to use as I have lots of music which wasn't normalised when it was ripped.

Help on how to find this feature in iTunes would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Alan R.

Sorry Alan.......I seem to have misled you there.

Under Edit/Preferences/Playback.......there is a tick box to enable a thing called Soundcheck, which seems like a normalisation on the fly to me.

It does a reasonable job, I suppose.

Thanks for that. You didn't mislead me. I was looking for something to automatically adjust all the tracks to about the same playback level. Just checked the box and it looks as though iTunes is 'normalising' all 15438 songs in the library.

I'll probably need to leave the PC on all night, but hopefully it will be worth it. I only use iTunes to load music onto the iPod for playback through the car audio system. Not having to adjust the volume control between albums will be a bonus. :P

Cheers,

Alan R.

I'm not certain if it changes the track or just records the volume level so it can adjust it during playback on the fly.

i m pretty sure it changes the track as it takes a while to do them

Yep, took about 12 hours to process more than 15,000 songs. I haven't checked if they are all "normalised" as such, but it would have been worth the wait if they have.

Cheers,

Alan R.
