Is this the news coverage (often pretty good) or the accompanying right wing freakshow as well?

It launched yesterday (Tuesday) and is a copy of the main channel.

Never mind. You still have plenty of other channels and the off button, unless you're already inclined to the "conservative base" in which case you now have an alternative to ABC News 24 that won't induce a heart attack. It's a free(ish) country.

I took an oath about sharing democratic values, after all.

Pity the ABC fails to do the same, as well as adhere to their charter. As well all, irrespective of political persuasion pay for the ABC, they should have a multiplicity of views. And they don't.

Sky is private and commercial and depend upon a wide-ish variety of viewers to survive. I can think of a number of presenters on both sides of the spectrum, even if they do lean a little more right than the ABC or many of the other commercial channels (wonder why you're failing Ch10?).

Are my eyes deteriorating rather quickly or has the quality (which was poor to start with) of Sky News UK on the active service deteriorated significantly in the last couple of months? I think everyone knows why Sky News UK is not in full screen HD or even SD - It would show up how poor the local version is, but come on, if Singapore and Indonesia get Sky News UK in full HD and ours is so poor it is almost impossible to read the graphics on the screen, something is really wrong with Foxtel.
I won't even mention the rise in advertising and repeats on all channels!
With subscription prices rising yet again, it is getting harder to justify keeping Foxtel when IPTV from overseas is becoming more of an option.
