I wonder if any other manufacturers have thought about Laurence Dickie's method of cutting out reflection behind the drivers. In the video linked below he shows how efficient it is, and it's extremely easy to do. Could it be vanity of other engineers or is this method patented?

 

I know Magico does something similar on their mid range drivers. I think they call it an 'inverted horn'

That's exactly why B&W tweeters are shaped like microphones.  This concept is all derived from the Nautilus research.

haha, well that would explain that!!!  I never got to meet him, I started working in the industry a couple years after the Nautilus toured NZ.

Please don't tell me you had never heard of Vivid before? I reckon Laurence Dickie is one of the most ingenious speaker designers out there.

I listened to the Vivid Ovals and Giyas at a hifi show, just brilliant sounding speakers, although very odd looking :) They would definitely not suit my older style queenslander.
