lonewolf
How old is the unit and the drives? Do you have smart info on the drives with hour count etc?
pdcoo7
Hi, can't say how old this is for certain as I bought the NAS about 8 months ago on Ebay (used) and its just been sitting in my cupboard not being used. Your question about the smart info prompted me to re-run the tests as I hadn't recorded the results, but now are available if you would like them Cheers
pdcoo7
I should point out that each of the disks reported no errors and had an overall health rating between 88.9 and 92.9%. Total hour count for these just over 25 months. cheers
pdcoo7
Price has dropped for quick sale. Comprehensive S.M.A.R.T. reports can for each disk is available. Still less than half their warranted life.

lonewolf
Hi I am interested but worried about the age of the unit and hdds. Its hard to tell when the parts in the NAS drive will start to die and how easy it is to get replacements, It looks like the synology might be around 8 years old or so, what do you think?
