Satori 2018

Recommended Posts

What about the woofer and mid.

Very interested in trying some satori drivers. Have recently done a 2 way with vifa ne drivers and like it a lot. Wondering for my next (3 way) if I should go for the vifa ne series or sb satori???

Hi Lusk,

A lot is happening actually, I’m in the process of modifying my 3 way to probably 4 way but unsure at this stage.

I have replaced my T34A Bliesma tweeter with T34B model.

T34B-4.jpg

T34B-4_03.jpg

I have purchased 10"volt B2500.1 drivers to replace my SB acoustic 8.5". At this stage I will try 1 pair of volt on the top and see how it is going to work in 4 way with some of 18” bass driver. I will also try 2 10” per side.

I do also have, as mentioned in my previous post, some Apogee ribbon driver (600hz-20000hz) which I will be implementing in OB sometime in the future. I just had a look over the weekend and they look impressive.

I 'm working bit by bit on sound treatment . I have made some panels from perforated board which is hanging from the ceiling on springs, not quite happy yet it’s still a working progress.

This Project is a continuation/upgrade of my previous project BPS which I have done last year, nevertheless I thought to give it a new name. In this project I have changed the tweeters and bass drivers. The Tweeters have been changed from BLiesma T34A to BliesmaT34B and the bass drivers from SB Acoustic (Satori) 9 1/2" WO24P-8 Bass to Volt Loudspeaker B2500.1.

Reason for changing theses drivers is in regard of the Tweeter I. Basically I wanted to hear what the differences are between 34A & 34B. Now I can say both drivers are extremely good, I cannot say which is better as they both perform differently, however, I could use any of them and be happy.

(NOTE: all info below is based on sealed box application)

In regards of the bass drivers I'm aiming at very tight and detail bass between the frequency of 80hz-350hz .I have used PHL10"3020 and it was exactly what I was looking, except the low extension as they do roll off at about 150hz . There are many drivers which I have tried and some I haven't tried that would do the job but they were design to go low, however, the texture and detail in that particular region (80-350) is lost.PLS note that all the drivers I have used are exceptionally good including the satori that I'm replacing, but my main objective is to have a particular driver which will cover 80hz-350hz extremely well in regards of texture and detail. The Volt driver is a driver which is extremely good for this application, the magnet of those drivers are bigger then some of my 18" drivers. The detail and speed is really what I'm looking for.

It's due to the strong motor force.

You can use EQ to have the driver play flat to your 80Hz target.... no problem, except it will depend what SPL you expect as the movement is only 5mm xmax (12mm limit).

Wow! High praise indeed. I've been wanting to hear them since I saw Quested started using them. Very cool.

What's the laundry list? I's pretty sure you've used PHL. What about Acoustic Elegance?

I have use AE 15TH+ and 18TH+ in the past  > recently I got pair of 18TH+ for another project still I think the Volt is much better sounding driver in (my place and application) > sealed working 15Hz up to 120HZ > TH+ is great if you want to /need to cross a bit higher > 250 even 350

Wow.   Another unusual driver.

Very stiff mechanical system, with a super strong motor.... not normally the "done thing".

OMG $$$$  ;):hyper:

Lately I have been playing a bit with Speaker placement /driver arrangement

and it is real eyeopener every arrangement/position has been fully measure and

and calibrated including a room eq .

So far the single driver arrangement sound the best (by far) Including 18"bass underneath as per last picture

That is what I would generally expect.

Can you let us know reasoning why would you expect that? Is it the removal of the 2 way MTM section?

That last pic makes me want to go large bass drivers, setup looks awesome.

Yes, the MTM needs to be designed very carefully to work... otherwise it will be overall a negative.

I kinda becomes a difficult proposition as to whether to use a steep or shallow rolloff in the crossover region.   Like I said, I'm not surpised it sounded better.
