mwhouston Posted March 23, 2018 Share Posted March 23, 2018 (edited) SOLD SOLD Item: Large bookshelf or stand mount DIY 2-ways speakers Location: Langwarrin Price: $200 (below cost of parts) - with donation to SNA if they sell at this price Item Condition: As new 9.5/10 Reason for selling: Too many speakers Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: These excellent looking and great sounding speakers comprise a 6.5" woofer\mid and isodynamic ribbon tweeter. 2nd order (-12/db/octave) Xover. Xover point at 2.1KHz. Brass gold plated single 3-way binding posts on rear. Xover comprise large air core chokes and 100V proper Xover polies. All internal wiring is solid copper. Boxes are 19ltr and the box and port design are by computer modelling. The tweeters were balanced by ear. These speakers test dead flat from 50Hz to over 22K. Lower 3db point is 40Hz with some output at 30Hz. Sensitivity is about 88db and the speakers have worked well with 5W SET amps. The finish is a heavy stippled black paint. It is very tough, washable and light and acoustically dead. Internally the boxes are heavily braced and with multilayers of Dacron and bituminised heavy Al lined. Bass is exceptional and at a demo at the Melbourne Audio club a number of members were surprised by bass extension and depth.
