realysm42
Hi, I want to commission the build of a new hi fi rack and isolation platforms; can anyone recommend me a professional carpenter please? Apologies if this isn't in the right part of the forum, seems like the best fit. Thanks, Martin

surprisetech
You could try: https://www.handkrafted.com/ I used this for my speaker boxes last year after failing to find anyone in my immediate area. Lodged my requirements on the site (in great detail) and got 3 responses. Went with Douglas Fir Design who did a marvellous job.

realysm42
Hi, Technically this isn't 'DIY', but 'diy'; I designed it myself I'm excited to be taking delivery of my new hi-fi rack, tomorrow evening. I used handcrafted (thanks for the suggestion @surprisetech) and went with Ross Thomson of RTF design; I'll write a review of his services later - spoiler: he's great to work with. I went for an Australian Blackwood rack (and platforms) and must say I think it looks beautiful - I love the sapwood running through it! I chose a a 3x3 design, so plenty of room for future purchases and everything will be nicely isolated (shelves and platforms are around 2" thick). Here are Ross's pictures of his handiwork: Edited May 16, 2018 by realysm42

realysm42
I think he’s Gelong based, but he’s willing to travel for work and has a great can do attitude. Contact him through his site and I’m sure he’ll help out.
