It would be a tough call in terms of performance difference between MA-1 v2 vs. a v1 DAC 2x.

A v2 upgraded DAC 2x would be clearly better though at an additional $2,650... for the upgrade.

It is always good to find a expert opinion in a sales thread...I am glad , "aris" , that you have evaluated  both upgraded versions and standard ones...!!!! A rare opportunity ...!!!

I have not been that lucky....BUT....I did own the Meitner MA-1 , than  progressed to the EMM Labs DAC2x and the upgrade was certainly worthwhile...both are very musical DAC's and with the new V2 boards will be even better....the difference between the above mentioned DAC's , I believe , are in the power supply and the circuit board materials used and a few other tricks....the upgrade price mentioned by "aris" above , is correct...!!!

Thanks

Helmut

Nod!!! Both great DAC’s - can’t go wrong with either one, just depends on what you’re willing to pay, and of course there what I would say is a diminishing return (subject to personal value judgement, and the rest of ones system) on price vs quality.

      Objectivitist trigger warning.

HIFI tuning have done tests against other standard and "audiophile" fuses here to illustrate that there are measurable differences between fuses: http://www.hifi-tuning.com/pdf/wlfr.eng.pdf
I have some of the silver variants of these and the sound is vert detailed but can be a bit upfront in the wrong setup. I assume that the Copper Ultimate gives a warmer sound than the silver variations and their marketing seems to support that.

HDMI Lead is the platinum series from Crest, I've had it in a box for a while, box says it supports 4K, 3D ETC so should suit all current formats. These were Around $200 new, but I just don't need a 4M cable, so have invested in a 2M to go to TV (No space for a projector in our house).
