I tell my son we would load a tape in the drive, go play cricket for an hour and hopefully the game loaded properly. Blew his mind.

Did you explain that they could be copied via high speed dubbing and passed on?

I had brand new games that never loaded...

Image result for mind = blown meme

Texas Instruments TI99/4a Were a better unit. Better graphics IMO.

That was my 2nd home computer. VZ200 was my first. Love the TI.

Modern arcade machine emulator, no need to bring back old machines.

Haha!  Awesome!!

I still have my trusty old 64 - this would look fantastic sitting next to it! :)

Great times indeed!

Mini A500 Amiga next?

It will only be realistic if the disc drive keeps failing...  🙄

As a kid in the 80's I lived and breathed the C64. Best gaming machine ever.

I still have all my zzap64 magazine in boxes somewhere...

Man, that brings back memories!!  We used to load a game up on the tape drive before going to bed so it would be loaded and ready to play in the morning when we woke up!

I had the best Ami 500 on the block, back in 1991 - Can't remember the price of the Amiga, but it was up around $800 from memory

Add on 512K expansion memory - another $150 I think

External second FDD - Can't remember, but probably around $120

RAM 500 side car expansion with SCSI interface - About $450

4MB of RAM, for the Sidecar - $400

110Mb SCSI HDD - $500

Power Supply for a PC, mounted in a box that also held the SCSI HDD

Modded the motherboard, so the 512K Expansion Pack was Fast RAM

Installed the new OS ROM (Kickstart 3), piggy backed onto the Kickstart 1.3 ROM, and selectable so that non compliant progs would still run.

Looked in envy at an external CDROM drive (read only), but the mrs cracked it when I told her they were $600.
