Fellow SNAers.................I don't know what to do.

I received this email.............and......and..........it seems to have a ring of truth to it.

I'll admit............I was looking at a certain website............................and yes it contained images..............images that some might find disturbing..........especially since some were in a state of undress..........

But!...........even though I was aroused...............excited even...............I....I........wasn't really interfering with myself...............................just making 'adjustments'.

Here is the email................I await your advice...............I know I can trust my fellow members to steer me clear of this terrible situation.

Spoiler

Good Morning my friend.
I represent the squad of web criminals from Sirya.
I contact with you by this mail address because we think that it will be checked.

Last month we hacked porn site and as far as you pressed on a play button your device started recording your screen and activating cam to capture you self-abusing.
So I suppose you recognize which evidence Ive got.
Also, this program started your device function as rdp with many abilities like keylogger, parser etc. Finally, my soft compiled all information, particulary all your contacts from messengers,e-mails,social media.

If you do not want us to use it agains you it is necessary to make a payment of 290 $ with bitcoin. We are sure that you have this money.
Use this Bitcoin address to pay - 1GqTotBqVkV8a6dFZD5BkMdJTkUrpbn95N

You should use it as usual credit card number. If I receive this sum we will be silent.
Watch youtube manuals about methods of buing BTC. For example you can buy them at localbitcoins, just find seller in your country.
If you have a problem with this, you can search the nearest BTC ATM at coinatmradar.

I give you exactly twenty four hours from the time you read my letter to finish a transaction.
Dont try to play with us we write you through our botnet, moreover we live abroad.
If you want proofs we will share it to five your friends then we will share their contacts. If you want you will ask them if they have received something or not.
For some questions just reply.
Dont be fullish,
$ui$ideBunnY squad.

The website in question................ http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/newhardware.html

Thanks..........in advance.........I'm counting on you lot...............so please!.........don't let me down.

(I don't even know what a Bitcoin is!)

Mate... just ignore it completely and carry on as normal.

This is not even a person, it's just a spambot. These criminals simply rely on the odd person who responds to it... then watch them hack all your sh!t even after payment.

Ad-blockers, real time web traffic monitoring for malware and rootkits, private window, no cookies... better.

No one has recorded anything, you're ok... :)

Just a thought... remove that URL so other don't go there!

T.thanks...........I hope you are right.

I wouldn't want my friends and family to know I'm involved in things like spambots and rootkits either!

Sure, but they won't.

No one has recorded anything... it's total BS.

Just never respond to these things at all... that's what actually starts the ball rolling.

It's just some server sending cr@p out... the person involved will only look at it once someone replies or pays.

I know it freaks you out... but then logic kicks in. Imagine the resources needed to do what is stated? The person likely has stuff all money, hence the scam. It's much easier for them to wait until the next sucker comes along rather than spending time punishing people that haven't paid. ;)

Doesn't matter... most smart TV's are watching everyone while they watch it. ;)

For those who are interested I thought I'd copy and paste the email chain here.  This "David" guy seemed to be interested in the Myryad MXI2080 I listed on Aussie Audio Mart, but it was just a scam.  Oh well, it made the week more interesting anyway.

Read from bottom to top, all emails were sent off to phishing@paypal.com (along with hash details) just prior to the "Well in that case there shouldn't be any problems" email.  ATM I'm just leading him on to find out the details on the sting, partly because I'm curious and partly to document the whole experience.  I'll update when he gets back to me.

Ok.. good, Payment will be done asap, once you receive payment in your
paypal, so you tell me when you will be available for pickup... please
note my friend is adding some  amount to your asking price for me to
process shipping, once you receive the payment in your account, you
will deduct your asking price and send the balance money to me..let me
know if ok by you and also email me your phone number...Regards

Hi all, Just wanted to reinforce the idea of being careful on the good old internet (and that includes our good old SNA).  I've just got a PM from a fellow who offers me no info other than asking if I am interested in the item listed in my WTB thread and if I am then I am to contact him via a free email account, which is the only way he will talk to me...

It set off my scam detector rather loudly.  Don't be afraid to use the ignore button ladies and gents, I certainly will be.

      Cheers,

      Cafad.
