But I don't entirely.  It's just that there has to some process that's different, and just naming the operating system or distro doesn't cut it for me.  I mean, many will tell you of the differences between Volumio and Moode's sound for example.  Here we are talking about squeezelite sounding different running on the same hardware, but different host software system.   I need to identify the actual cause, because it may be something that just needs tweaking one way or the other, and that would be worth knowing.

And yes, I think the sound is better, more balanced and transparent. Really nice :) . Thanks for the hint.

I have put the audio buffer size to 4MB leaving the buffer before play with 10%...

I have up sampling turned off. I think its off by default. Should I turn it on? I'm using a pi with generic audiophonics dac.

I would.  Just set it to match your DAC
