Good Quality Classical CD's?

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

the partner enjoys a few classical pieces of music, and is enjoying my new speaker set up etc and I would like to procure some good classical recordings.

Any mobs I should look at for good quality recordings?

This my partners helpful advice, haha.

I like Bach Concerto No 5, Pachelbel’s Cannon in D, Vivaldi Four Seasons, and I can’t remember the Mozart and Handel one’s off the top of my head

Thank you.

God damn, I though I would have been descended on by a horde of classical audiophile beige jacket wearing cat owners who still live with their Mum, pouring out suggestions.

Or winery owners.

Bugger. Will have to do my own work. :D

Do you just have a standard CD player or can you play SACDs too?

What about high resolution digital files - ie. 24-bit FLAC or DSD?

Do you have a record player? (there would be a horde of SNAers able to recommend 'good' sounding classical vinyl)

Does a non-beige jacket wearing audiophile that owns a dog and lives alone (except for the pup) good enough ?? :D

I'll post a few of my favs when I get home for you Daz !! :thumb:

Op shops, other than Kahmal and Dennis Walter records they usually have a proliferation of classical albums.

For about a buk each you can test the waters.

Snap! Good thinking 99, I just thought that some mobs might specialise in good quality classical CD recordings. Might check out the MoFi website. Thanks Brother Joz. Might grab some Kamahl whilst I am there.

Check the Hi-Q label XRCD selection on ElusiveDisc.

Thanks man, might see what else they have 'whilst I'm there'. Shame I didn't organise to meet the flesh and blood version of Spyne at the Hi Fi show.

Ah well, next time. I was too preoccupied with having a weekend away from the wife and bub!! Oh, and all the burgers I could feast on while in Melbourne :)

Maybe one day I'll get out to another GTG or (wishful thinking) host my own, and we can meet then.

Memories might be a little fuzzy.....but weren't you at the dinner too Spyne ??

I thought so.

Daz was there too at the dinner, he was the shy retiring type sitting in the middle...... easily missed to be fair.....

That's crazy, @~Spyne~ we were in the same room, haha.

Poor Mr Gimlet, I was speaking to him and yet it's fuzzy for me now.

I blame the early Pullman bar attendance prior to going to the Bavarian Beer café (though it did cause me to visit and experience one of those snazzy automated Melbourne toilets on the way...was grateful to not have to touch anything)

You can't pin anything on me with that fuzzy, obviously photoshopped, image....

If I actually did see you, you would have been even fuzzier, and possibly two of you towards the end of the night.

Thank you.

Telemann is worth considering as well given her apparent taste. :thumb:
