jamesg11
So, when I get my Loewe Reference 75” uhd (might wait for the xmas sales ...) - at what distance do I place the couch to resolve the image? I know there’s a formula for this calc.

metal beat
With my 75 inch Sony, I am around 4 metres away. not sure what the calculation is, but this works for me.
betty boop
hi james, Depends whether want to resolve uhd 4K? or what want resolve e.g. something more gentle around general viewing with a typical smorgasbord of fta tv, dvd, blu-ray uhd ? For UHD/4k would need to sit 1-1.5x screen heights. so thats 934 to 1.4m which likely unrealistic anyone is going to be sitting at. and apart from uhd and even some uhd is going to look pretty average at that sort of distance i would suggest. the typical recommendation and more realistic for general viewing is 3x screen heights. a 934mm screen heights would mean sitting at 2.8m at this distance would still fully resolve 1080p/blu-ray. if want to sit a bit closer and THX would recommend 2.2m for immersion this would give a bit of benefit for uhd but some material like fta and dvd might look a tad rougher. at other extreme if sitting beyond 2.964m you will not fully resolve even blu-ray 1080p so uhd will be a waste ! 46 minutes ago, Qwertyqaz said: Why not get an Oled. they do sell a oled. a tad smaller and what id go for instead... cwt
10 hours ago, al said: they do sell a oled. a tad smaller and what id go for instead... We all know how much oleds are Al and also Loewe's 30k led so curiously did a quick google on the new pana 77" oled which is estimated at about 20k euro or around 30k aus when it lands as a guestimate . So its hard to believe that an oled will be on an equal pricing footing with a led at these prices but apparently it will be [ but it is par for the course for Loewe naturally ] Have you considered the pana James ? I suppose this looks interesting; https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/loewe-bild-x-television-news/ They do have an OLED range too... LG's OLED panel again though; http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/bild7-201705194469.htm Then this is positive; The Bild 7 is an outstanding OLED debut from Loewe, with the 55-incher we reviewed featuring the highest peak brightness we’ve extracted from any OLED TV to date. If going an LED LCD though, surely there is better performance elsewhere... aren't the Loewe LED LCD's edgelit? JSmith
DoggieHowser
The one I’d go for is the Sony 9400E 75”The ZD9 is still stunning but there isn’t a 75” one here.
jamesg11
These things are always a specific screen design-production matter - ideally a review of the 75” loewe ref will turn up. Info on screen sizes & viewing distances is exactly what I was after.

betty boop
I release the attraction with loewe, they are lovely TVs that is no question. but if indeed looking at other stuff, I would consider the size smaller 65" oled I dont know if loewe makes one but if did would be based on the lg panel in any case. another i saw recently also based on the lg oled was the sony a1 oled. and looks like jb has it going for under $6k which is pretty good buying id say, and should be negotiable lower than that give the haggle factor https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisions/sony/sony-kd65a1-65-4k-hdr-android-smart-oled-tv/453475/

As I said, a product by product close look is essential, trying to sus out whatever relativities/ comparisons are possible. Which is where I’m up to ... hifiman
I've got a soft for Loewe TVs, we bought our first set from ENCEL stereo, it was a huge 68cm with support for NTSC! They used to have ads on them in the green guide selling Loewe and also Blaupunkt Tvs... If considering OLED, the panasonic ones are probably the best even though they are using LG OLED panels. Do remember when Pioneer Kuro were shut down, all the engineers were brought over to Panasonic's display division and thus they have arguable the best screen coating technology today.
