This might just be a wild goose chase but there are many 2 channel DAC options but hardly any 8 channel DAC options.

I personally would love to see an 8 channel external DAC that can drive a power amp directly so that I can finally get rid of the horrible quality Pre Amps that are AV Pre Processors.

By now we are used to using computers for music playback via external DAC, but for movie playback we still need to use an AVR or Pre-Pro or we have to use a Pro Audio DA Converter which comes with a lot of options not needed for the average consumer.

Anyone else with me?????

Audial's got one coming out this year. Will be reasonably priced. Intended for active systems.

There's a particularly interesting product coming out of the US this year with an 8-channel AKM setup and integrated DSP too.

      Item: Peachtree Audio iDac
      Location: Brisbane
      Price: AUD 600 + shipping
Item Condition: Nearly new (Used for 3 months)
Reason for selling: Recently bought a pre-amp with built-in DAC (ESS ES 9018 Sabre DAC) for convenient.
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank transfer.

      Extra Info:
I was searching for Peachtree DAC ITx after trying MF V90, Schiit MODI Multibit  & Arcam irDAC and found this iDac with a dealer in New Zealand. Perhaps only new piece left in the whole world. Brought new 3 months ago and enjoyed every bit of it since then. This is a reference level DAC with  ESS ES9016 Sabre³² Ultra DAC and originally sold for $1399 in Australia. It has a very smooth presentation. I used it with MF A5 CR Pre (selling soon) to connect laptop, CA DVD99, SBT streamer and Apple TV.
Another feature of the iDac is 2 buttons in back panel for Hi-Bit/Lo-Bit options and Filter options NOS/NAL. NOS stands for "no filtering or oversampling," NAL for "nonaliasing."
Also it has an old style iPOD doc for older generation iPods and iPhones.
The DAC is still in new conditions and comes with remote, manual and power code in the original box.
I did a comparison between iDac connected to pre-amp via analogue in and built-in DAC in the pre-amp:  found no difference in sound quality.
Local buyers are welcome to come and listen at my place in bay side area of Brisbane.
Note:  iDac has a built-in linear power supply so no need of an external power supply to improve SQ.
