Would there be any interest in seeing some of your proposed rooms before they're actually built?

Recommended Posts

Hi!
I'm a CGI artist, and I'd love to render up some of your rooms, free of charge. It's good for me because these types of projects are fairly simple and quick to do and I honestly enjoy doing them. It's also a good opportunity for me to hone my skills while at the same time, you get to see some of your own ideas before they're even created. It's an offer that won't last forever though, and some renders of yours may take longer than others - depending on what I'm doing in my personal time. There may also be some that are just too complicated or time consuming to attempt to do with the time I currently have, so don't take it to heart of I kindly reject them. I've got plenty on my plate as it is.
Nevertheless, if it's something you're interested in and in no rush for, feel free to leave your plans in this thread and I'll take a look and have a go.

Thanks Dylan, I will definitely take advantage of this.

Quick question - I have modelled my room up in a 3d CAD package - are you able to import any 3D formats (such as step) or would you prefer to model from scratch off a plan?

I can import most 3D formats but it would most definitely be easier just to do it from scratch. There's less things to clean up that are left over from other programs - especially for one room.

I would like to take up your offer, my room won't be that exciting, the biggest thing for me is I would love to see if I can have a ceiling fan. The problem is the projector will be ceiling mounted behind it. The second thing i'm really interested is how it will look with a projector screen on one wall and a TV on the adjacent wall.

Okay ceiling will 2700mm high, room 5.4 metres in length x 4 metres wide. Projector screen on the 4 metre wall. Looking at a 120" fixed screen. I've never had a projector before but i'm looking at a BenQ W2000. Currently have JBL floor standing speakers, JBL centre and JBL rears.

I also have a white gloss 2400mm in length TV unit which will be where the projector screen is. Height of unit is 570mm.

Wanting to put in ceiling speakers x2.

TV 65" inch Samsung to be wall mounted centre of the 5.4 metre wall. Looking at purchasing a sound bar to be mounted on wall below it. Possibly some sort of shelf for other things like media players and blu ray player.

Wall colour is a dark grey, Haymes Ash grey. Ceiling colour Greyology 1.

Wanting to purchase black home theatre recliners x4 seats.

Please ask if I have missed something.

Thanks

DK

plan for dtv forum 23-5-17.docx

it's a bit hard to work out what is going on in that plan. Let me see if I've got it right:

Room: 5.7 x 4 x 2.7m
Projector: BenQ W2000
Projector screen: 120" fixed (what ratio?) and at what end of the room?
Speakers: What kind of JBL speakers? Got a model number?
TV Unit: 2.4 x 0.57m x ??
Flat screen TV on opposite side of entry with sound bar and floating shelf of some sort
Colours: Ash grey
Black Recliners

Ceiling fan - what model?

There shouldn't be any issue with that btw. You'd just use a short dropper to mount your projector from the ceiling to clear the fan. There's more than enough clearance at both ends of the room.

Thanks for the reply.

Room 5.4 in length, 4 wide, ceiling height 2.7.

TV unit .54m deep.

Speakers JBL studio 2. Floor standers JBL studio 280, JBL Centre 235c and Studio 230 bookshelf.

Sub woofer Wharfedale SW150.

Projector screen ratio 16:9.

On wall where TV Arial and data point is.

Ceiling fan, i'm a hunter pacific fan, haven't decided on model but most likely after a flush mount fan.

Power point for projector on the ceiling behind future ceiling fan.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

DK.

With the above installation the W2000 cannot be any further back than 3.9m from the screen for a 120" 16:9 screen.

Ok no problems. That wouldn't take me long. If you have a picture of the TV unit I could see, it would be helpful so I know what I'm modelling. Apart from that, the rest is fairly easy.

That's gonna be a really nice room! Looking forward to working on it. I don't need anything else for that one. Just need to clarify, are those double doors going to be flush panel?

Thanks, am I best to go the 3.9m for future projectors or should I go approx the 3.3m I was going to?

Trying to work out how far I should have the power point installed on the ceiling.

I was in the same boat. And one thing you can do is run a junction box to the approximate location in the roof. When you're certain where it's going to go, all you have to do is install the wall plate and wire it up to the junction box. 10minute job!
Thanks for the info. That helped alot. I'll get started on your room over the weekend.

Thanks. I would have liked the length to width ratio to be a bit more, but there just wasn't room.

Doors are soli-core flush (http://www.humedoors.com.au/products/flush/2), rebated, with parliament hinges. They have Hume HAG9 patterned face - http://www.humedoors.com.au/products/interior_doors/accent_range/hag9

Thanks again!

Edit: doors are 2340 high.

Edit 2: Here are door handles too if you get keen!: http://www.gainsboroughhardware.com.au/products/leversets/g4-series/amelia-passage-leverset-satin-chrome

3.3m will give you a little more brightness with the W2000 (probably not needed). If you go 3.3m you may be a little too close for many projectors e.g JVC.

At 3.3. how will you go for fan blade clearance?

Cool!
Just a quick update, I've got a deadline this Sunday to get some stuff done - which will keep me very busy until then, and then I'll start doing some stuff for this forum, so you should all start seeing some renders come through next week.

  • 3 weeks later...

Alright, some very early images I just rendered out for Coola32 just to prove I'm actually doing something lol. Random chairs and no cornice yet. Bad quality everything but its getting there (Charlize doesn't look happy, does she?!).
Should have something finished Saturday in much better quality.
I just realised the room is ass about Coola. Screen should be down the other end. I'll fix that up.

Thanks Dylan looking forward to it. If it helps the cornice is 3 step or trio. Sliding cavity doors Hume Denmark, think I'll change these down the track to solid doors.

Really like the recliners, where is the best place to purchase good quality recliners but still reasonably priced?

Cheers

DK.
