SLE3551503562118
Channel 507 starts tomorrow, showing the cricket. I wonder where the bitrate will be taken from.
Slattery
Interesting you say that. I was watching the players championship golf tonight on 507 and on my 110 inch screen the blockiness and artifacts were quite noticeable. Had to be less than 8 mbps for sure. Does anyone have the facility to test all the sports channels again like previously in this thread? It has been a while since it was last done. I suspect the bitrates have dropped even more sadly. k3nnis888
Hi all, Are these bitrates on cable as well? Or just satellite? Also anyone here have a list of resolution of the HD channels? Ie 720P, 1080i, 1080P(if this even exists). I have a Samsung 75” 4ktv and with the iq3 set to auto it outputs as 1080P. Thanks, K.

Go into the HD picture settings part of the Foxtel Setup Menu and change output from "Auto" to "Passthrough" This allows all channels to display in their original resolution....... ......eg Channel 9 SD should show as 576i whilst the 2 ESPN channels will show as 720P Just use your TV's remote to check display resolution info. BTW.......Highest resolution Foxtel currently offer is 1080i.........no 1080p FWIW...........I just leave my IQ2HD box set to 1080i. k3nnis888
Ok thanks. Is it better to leave on auto or pass through? How to get the best available quality?
JohnL
Auto will upscale the SD channels to 1080i Another issue with passthrough is that you have to wait for different resolutions to lock in when you are channel surfing. I would suggest leaving on Auto or 1080i/1080p Edited January 3, 2018 by JohnL

You can get FTA HD on Foxtel? Nothing shows on my hd foxtel list. Only fta is the shitty worse than sd on foxtel. That said, FTA HD looks great on 90 and 70. 13 never looks as good. jamesg11
Thanks, good info update. On sat, so that’s why no fta hd then. Old optus street. NBN was scheduled for Aug, but pulled plug I assume cos of the dodgy cabling.

roh008
I'm not sure if Foxtel still offer satellite installation rather than using the NBN/ADSL but their bitrates via sat dish are much higher, therefore should look a lot better on larger screens/projectors
SLE355
With Foxtel having a dedicated cricket channel later this year, i wonder if that'll eat bitrate or if they'll use one of the current channels.
Slattery
Exactly what I was thinking as soon as they announced Fox Cricket. No doubt they will just add another HD channel and reduce the bitrate even more :-=( I wonder what bitrate the new Fox Cricket 4K channel will run at....
