sinclair1503565183
Hello everyone, I'm just getting into the world of home cinema and I am planning to set up a cinema room this year in my home. Been researching on the net (holey information overload batman!) and i have narrowed it down to a handful of projectors that sound good to me... I just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere in sydney that had showrooms displaying different projectors. I would like to see whether spending extra cash is worth it (to my eye). I'd like to be able to see a $10000 projector compared to a $5000 projector.. Anyway your help would be appreciated, I'm sure as the year goes on I'll be frequenting this site alot more for info
oztheatre
Go see lifestyle store in north Parra, they have about 6 rooms and a good range of options. Might have more rooms now, he was doing some upstairs renos last year. not sure wherelse, pacific hifi in liverpool might have something on display. len wallis lane cove. Sydney hifi castle hill Don't think you'll get much from the large chain stores, this is a niche sort of business setup and it comes down to floorspace in larger dept stores. Many of the good ones are inside installers and integrators homes too. Those 4 should be enough to give you an idea especially lifestyle store. Whereas projectors that produce much higher brightness levels do much better by comparison in rooms that are less than optimum, that is not light controlled. Deeper blacks though are much more satisfying to the viewing experience than excessively high levels of brightness and will produce a visual transparency to the image that cannot be obtained any other way. As it is often said......" You cannot project blacks " .......it is a product of the viewing environment and the optical engine of the projector in use. Javs
Len Wallis at Lane Cove also have Projector rooms I believe. Worth a phone call. Len Wallis has an average room with only an X500 and a 600ES. Digital Cinema just moved locations to Auburn I think, they have many rooms apparantly and they sell many brands.
sinclair1503565183
I ended up going to Lifestyle Store at Parramatta. Great store with several rooms (4 that I saw) set up with different projectors. Vinod was a great salesman, very knowledgeable and very helpful. I ended up going way over my budget haha but I'm very happy with what I've organised. I settled on the Sony 55es. .. On the other hand "Digital Cinema" at auburn were an absolute disgrace...i went there on their opening day after reading on their website they had 9 cinema rooms on display. They had only 2..I got treated by sales staff like a piece of crap. Absolutely no willingness to help me (perhaps due to my tattoos and beard, but hey I own a tattoo shop and my money is as good as anyone's you'd figure) Anyway I recommend you avoid them

Zinzan
Hi Sinclair, Other than the projector, what else do you want to do with the room? If you're thinking about a fully dedicated cinema room. Might be a good idea to start a thread in the setup and construction sub-forum, there'll be heaps of advice forthcoming there (if you want it!) on sound proofing all the way through etc.
sinclair1503565183
Hey Zinzan, I've pretty well handed over the reigns to lifestyle store...I've started a thread on the build which I'll update as time goes by
