Elite Screens Electric Vs Vmax

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking at these 2 screens and i cant tell what the difference is(apart from the 5 extra inches on the electric).

Models are

Elite Screens VMAX120UWH2 120

and

Elite Screens ELECTRIC125H 125

There is a 360 dollar difference between them(the 125" is cheaper) but when looking at the elite website basically made out of the same material.

Anyone know whats different about them?

You can see a comparison table of the two ranges here (note the Electric range is referred to as Spectrum in the comparison) The main difference appears to be that the Vmax models come with an IR remote and 12V trigger that's an extra cost on the Electric.

Not that cant be it.

From the spectrum brochure

Control System:
• Infrared remote and wall switch
• Internal IR/RF low voltage receivers
• 3 way wall switch
• 5-12 volt trigger synchronizes with projector
From the vmax2
Control System:
• Radio Frequency (RF) remote has 100' range
• Infrared remote and wall switch
• Internal IR/RF low voltage receivers
• 5-12 volt trigger synchronizes with projector
So it has the same features..

I don't know either product, but the first question I'd be asking with an electric screen is whether the screen surface is flat, and stays flat over years of use. I notice they do not appear to be tab tensioned so if it were me I'd be looking elsewhere (unless somebody came on here and said they'd owned one for years and it stays flat).

I know people go on about tab tensioned but that adds 2K to the price.

I will stick to the normal one first and later on upgrade.

Its more than just flatness, the smoothness of the screen material is of even greater importance if your sit close.

Tab tensioned screens use a smooth stretch vinyl material just like fixed screens, rather than the coarse cloth-fiberglass material used in normal pull down or electric retractable screens.

If you sit about 3m or less from the screen the texture of the screens surface is important, but at greater distances this fades into insignificance.

A 120" Chinese tab tensioned electric screen should sell for about $600 or less, but many suppliers seem to think they can charge double that or more, but if you keep your eyes open you can find one for the appropriate price.

Thanks for the tip.

I am assuming these will appear on ebay.

Most screens on ebay(cheap ones) don't have a trigger switch in them and only work on remote control.

thanks

P.s the cheapest tab screen i could find was around 2.3K from elite with trigger. I'm sure they are there.

P.s.s Checked fleabay cheapest 120" screen was around the 1600 mark from china( plus gst when it lands and duty)
