Volunteer Kazz Posted August 6, 2014 Volunteer Share Posted August 6, 2014 My current motorised screen has some serious waves and it's driving me nuts and it's getting worse. It is probably about 10 yrs old so it's done well to get this far before it started to get wavy. Anyway I've been researching what to get to replace it, without going too overbaord pricewise (budget is a bit limited after buying the second subby ). These are some of the ones I've been looking at and I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with the brands or have any ideas of brands I've missed. http://screenguys.com.au/Screen_Technics~Wide_169~Electric~4511029~Screen_Technics_ViewmasterPro_110in_169_Motorised_Scrn.html http://www.justprojectors.com.au/screensgvremote.htm http://www.elite-electronics.com.au/Home_Entertainment/Projector_Screens/Motorized/Elite_Screens_PM110HT-E12_110_PowerMax_Pro_Electric_Screen http://www.elite-electronics.com.au/Home_Entertainment/Projector_Screens/Motorized/Elite_Screens_PMT106HT2-E12_10_PowerMax_Tension_Electric_Screen http://www.digitalcinema.com.au/Carson-Powered-Screen-Cellio-110-inches-p/carson-powered-cellio-110.htm (have to say I'd never heard of this brand) Thanks in advance for any input. oztheatre
Kazz, many on here have said the motorised screens from selby and tcc are good bang for buck...
Volunteer Kazz Posted August 7, 2014 Author Volunteer Share Posted August 7, 2014 Hi Rich, I can't get an answer from TCC as to when/if they will be doing motorised screens again, hadn't though of Selby though. I don't want to go too cheap though, the current one is an LP Morgan that I bought off a friend years ago and other than the waviness it is a good screen (just a bit more than I want to spend). agelessgoodguy
Hi Kazz have you thought of buying a cheap motorised screen of appropriate size off ebay then using the screen material to replace your wavy lot? BTW Selby told me at the last GTG there to buy one off ebay rather than theirs as they couldn't at that time, compete with the quality for cost. Mine off ebay cost $180 only and has performed perfectly, just saying
wheelz
Selby deluxe elec screens have been sold out for awhile now, they may still have some of their cheaper one left tho(the cheaper ones don't have the adjustable leeder) Actually scrap what I said, seems they are back in stock. I have the 90" and im pretty happy with it Kazz tho not sure how much if any better the ones you linked too are or how it would compare to your LP morgan http://www.selby.com.au/electronics/projectors/16-9/110inch-white-deluxe-projector-screen-16-9-with-12v-trigger.html Edited August 7, 2014 by wheelz

Volunteer Kazz Posted August 7, 2014 Author Volunteer Share Posted August 7, 2014 It has to me motorised Kazz? I have a Screen Technics pull down and have been very happy with it for more than 5 years now ... The motorised equivalent was 3x the price at the time. Yep want motorised, I already have power there for it, and I'm too short to reach a pull down lol......
Volunteer Kazz Posted August 8, 2014 Author Volunteer Share Posted August 8, 2014 Screen technics will give you a cool perspex hook to pull it down with! LOL! I just figure Im usually loading a disc anyway so may as well have a pull down ... But I'm 6 foot and don't need the hook LOL. Good luck with it. Good to know you get a hook lol. I'll keep it in mind.
Volunteer Kazz Posted August 13, 2014 Author Volunteer Share Posted August 13, 2014 Ok so I spoke with Rob (aka crumpet) at BPP Knox City today, and then dropped in there after work and I have ordered a 110" Screen Technics motorised screen, should arrive in the next week or two. I'd like to thank Rob, great to deal with and always nice to meet a fellow forumite.
logicaldisconnect
Anyone have any feedback on what the cheapish Selby and TCC pull-down screens are like compared with the fixed frame or motorised 'deluxe' screens? I'm looking for a 120" fixed frame but both Selby and TCC seem to be out of stock. Can't really afford the higher-end screens at this stage and don't really need motorised but looking for something decent quality and good value if anyone has any recommendations. die_piggy
Give tcc and selby a call. When they get low in stock they take the items off the site. They may still be able to sell you one
logicaldisconnect
Yeah, contacted them today and looks like they'll be back in stock in a couple of weeks so I'll just wait. Was just concerned they might not have been getting any more.

Volunteer Kazz Posted August 26, 2014 Author Volunteer Share Posted August 26, 2014 Have you received and set up your new screen yet Kazz? If so whats your thoughts? No not yet unfortunately, BPP are waiting on it to arrive from screen technics. I've just organised an electrician friend who will do a power point for me this weekend, so I'm not stressed. Will definitely update when I get it though.

No Limits
Any opinions on the best 150" fixed screen going at the moment? Would like to keep the budget to around $1500' but can stretch slightly if required. Thanks
Dve009
hey all, instead of starting a new thread I am about to purchase a screen off TCC. Just wondering if it is worth spending extra money on the Showtime screens over their normal TCC screens? Will be using this with a w1070. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Saw the showcase screens on Friday and they looked really good. Having said that, I have a 110" TCC screen and it has been great displaying content from a benq 7500. Don't think you will be disappointed with either choice
pumpkins
Hi all, thought I'd bring this topic up again, with a few different options. My sweet spot screen size is around 130-135", so for a budget fixed frame I went to Selby and TCC. Unfortunately TCC have said it will be "some time" until the 133" TCC branded screens are back in stock. Worst of luck, they are out of their Showtime brand 133" as well with a undetermined "later this year" delivery date. Selby are selling their 133" for $649.95 delivered. Reviews seem ok for the price. Then I found a "Aidoru" brand screen pop up, which I'm struggling to find reviews for. 133" sold at Klapp AV for $649 delivered. http://klappav.com.au/products/133-inch-projector-screen Anyone have comments on these? Crazily, AV Australia seem to sell the same model for $1,674 + delivery http://www.avaustralia.com.au/aidoru-deluxe-16-9-fixed-frame-projection-screens/ Any other recommendations would be great cheers!
