Changes To Foxtel Packages Soon

Recommended Posts

I rang Foxtel today to get another IQ unit for a different room and the consultant informed me to wait a couple of weeks because letters will be sent out detailing Foxtels new "exciting" packages, including new flexible pricing and additions to Platinum - Maybe the rewards program they have talking about on Facebook???

My first thought is maybe Showcase will be moving out of Movies and into the Drama pack with BBC First.

I'll post the letter in full when it arrives.

New channel packages hey. One rumour and I emphasise rumour I heard was that the sports channels would be available as a standalone ie about $25 per month and no need to have basics at $49.

I think ultimately we would all love to be able to choose what we want, but knowing the way they have structured pricing to date, they would no doubt let you have a set of 15 channels in a tier for $20 but if you only want 6 ( no problem ) that will be $18.50 thank you sir

Anyway, will have to wait and see

With all due respect, my jaw will smash the floor so hard if this happens.

They keep coming to the door with offers but seems expensive for what you get, I have rung them but that didn't really help either

+1 no way they will do sports only for $25.

I got a 6 month package today and sports is $25, had to couple it with Essentials and it is for new residential customers only, so $50 for the lot per month.

Was that for all sport channels or a selection? Eg fox 1,2,3 and footy.

You're going to be extremely disappointed if you got it to watch NBA games

Not a biggie, the son likes to watch some games

Sport has always been a $25 extra maybe they gave you essentials half price for 6 months.

edit. Here you go as I thought, 1/2 price of essentials for 6mths on all packages.

I'm presuming to every Foxtel subscriber.

You know I'm thinking it's coming up to September when us poor subscribers get letters informing us of price increases, so I hope it's not one of these.

To stop the thieving Foxtel Corporation I have continually rolled over a Foxtel from Telstra deal from 2009 (no longer available) of $198 per month which is Platinum HD Iq2 plus 100GB Cable Broadband with Free Phone Rental plus free local calls.

Apparently once you lock into a Telstra plan they cannot take it away from you & it stays at the same price for years.

I reckon in 5 years time Foxtel Platinum alone will be at least $160 per month.

I rang to cancel my Foxtel account yesterday. As per usual, the rep ran through the usual 'alternatives' to cancellation. In the end I accepted downgrading from Platinum (approx $130pm) to 'Essentials' for $25pm for 6 months. Like other thread respondents, I was informed that new packages and pricing would be announced in September. I too am pessimistic regards channel flexibility and pricing overall; however pessimism does not totally eclipse my hope that there may indeed be change for the better, no matter how slight.

One aspect of yesterday's 'phone conversation which made me laugh out loud was when, in response to my comment that having Foxtel was actually a 'luxury', the rep gently argued it wasn't.

Anyway, here's to September.

These new packages and pricing has gotten me thinking that maybe it has something to do with "Triple Play" that Foxtel has been talking about for a while now.

I got sent a survey from Foxtel yesterday. One of the questions was whether there would be any interest in receiving additional Italian language channels (Mediaset etc.)
