Price Check/fs: Yamaha Dsp-A3090

Recommended Posts

My father-in-law is a mad keen audiophile, but at 67 years old is a little bit less capable on the Internet side of things hence he has asked me to help him sell off one of his bits of gear. I thought you guys here might be interested.

Per the title, it is the venerable Yamaha DSP-A3090, made in Japan (and actually purchased there) - and there's the rub - it requires a power transformer, however one will be included in the sale (probably worth a couple hundred itself). It is in perfect condition.

My FIL's thinking $1,000 but I highly doubt a 16-year old unit would fetch that much regardless of how awesome it's supposed to be so I'm open to reasonable offers and will let him decide. It weights friggin' 21Kg so pickup only, from Eastwood (BH) or Cardlingford (AH) NSW.

Specs on the Yamaha site:

Good luck with the sale ... but I'm sorry to say that I think the transformer is likley to yield a better price than the receiver. I'd suggest that you tell the F-I-L that nothing beats the good old days and let him keep it rather than shatter any dreams on what it may be worth.

LOL thanks. Shame though, it does seem like a nice piece of kit, if weren't for the inevitable march of progress.

It comes with software CD and mic plus I will include a USB adaptor for programming. These are unbeatable for integrating subs into your system with time alignment etc
      A quote from Absolute Sound:
This system’s bottom-end power, resolution, and freedom from coloration were jaw-dropping. The complete lack of bloat, thickness, or heaviness in the bass and midbass seemed to liberate the entire bottom end, allowing me to hear deep bass without the masking effect of excessive midbass. Bottom-end dyname ics were unlike anything I’ve heard from a hi-fi system. The system resolved the attack and decay of bass guitar, acoustic bass, and kick drum with an astonishing lack of transient smearing. Dynamics jumped out of the speakers, then disappeared with equal rapidity. The entire presentation had massive weight and impact, yet was amazingly quick and agile. Finally, this bottom-end clarity made it easy to hear the pitch of individual notes. In short, this system was revelatory in its reproduction of the bottom four octaves

Extra Info: bought this from friend in the view of set up a turntable, but I realised that I will not have the time and skills to properly set up the vinyl rig hence put this up for sale. There are many reviews on the web about this step up transformer.  Prefer local pick up as I do not have the original box.
