Sydney Audio Club... Meeting Sun 9Th Sept, Dynaudio, Bryston

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I would like to inform every one of the Sydney Audio Club’s upcoming meetings for anyone who may be interested in attending. Each month I will post a copy of our newsletter highlighting who will be presenting at our next gathering. See post below.

All are welcome, so please post here for more info, or see our website for calender dates, www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au/

You don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Hope to see you there.

Potential Presenters:

I’ve been a member of the Sydney Audio Club for over a year now and love it and have recently joined the committee in the role as Events Coordinator. This is a joint role with another committee member whose career background is in Pro Audio.

Together we source and organise Home and Pro audio equipment from Distributors, Retailers, Direct to Market Companies, Representatives and our Members, to showcase their gear for the enjoyment of our members and guests at our monthly meetings held at Dence Park Creative Centre in Epping.

The Sydney Audio Club offers companies an opportunity to present and demonstrate their equipment to the club. It could be a single piece of kit or an entire system, something new to market or an old favourite. Also we have recently updated our website to list our presenters over the last 12 months in the public area.

Anyone interested in offering and presenting any gear at our future meetings, feel free to contact myself for further discussions. Meetings are on Sundays and openings are available from Feb 2013.

The September 2012 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music and sound and convivial company.

Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

This month we will have a complete system provided by Syntec International (refer to http://www.syntec.com.au). For over 35 years Syntec International has been the Australian and New Zealand distributor for some highly renowned and respected brands of audio equipment. Some of their brands include: Arcam, Bryston, Dynaudio, Lehmann, Manley, MIT, Neumann, Sennheiser and Tangent – to name a few.

This month we will have a system comprising Dynaudio and Bryston.

The electronics will be a Bryston combo of a 4B-SST power amp, BP26 pre-amp and CD player (please refer to http://www.syntec.co...ome.php?cat=261). The 4B-SST is a pure dual mono design and offers 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 with over 1000 watts available in bridged mode.

The speakers will be the Dynaudio C2 (please refer to http://www.dynaudio....nfidence_c2.php). The C2 is a 1.5 meter tall floorstander. It has two Esotar tweeters and two mid/bass drivers with special Kapton voice coil formers that are perfectly integrated by the advanced crossover to yield a seamlessly balanced yet detailed sound and incredible sound staging.

We will also have a Sugden Connoisseur BD-1 turntable, very recently refurbished by a club member. It’s definitely no Transrotor but it reportedly sounds pretty good. It has the Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge. The phono stage will be by Graham Slee. Sorry, no music server this month.

For this meeting, both music sessions will be BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD and vinyl. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.

Members and Guests welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door.

Venue: Epping Creative Centre

Address: 26 Stanley St, Epping

Doors open 1pm

Meeting starts at 2pm

Best regards,

Tom Waters

Hey no probs, hope you can make it to the meet, or another sometime. Always good to see new faces.

A fellow member has been posting the meetings on SNA for a while, so I thought I'll start spreading the word here as well.

Went and picked up the gear from Syntec today and they have managed to loan us the "Signature Confidence 2" speakers in the gorgeous mocca finish, so should look as stunning as they sound.

Packed in 2 wooden crates 1.7 metres tall and over 80kg each, was challenging getting them into the car and home. The amp is a hefty bugger too. Should be fun setting the system up on Sunday.

It was a great meeting with a fun vibe. The Dyn's looked and sounded amazing, backed up by the Bryston gear, was one of the best sounding systems I've heard at the club, (in my 15 months as a member). Took a while to warm and open up, as the C2's only had 20 hours run in previously but once primed they gave an exciting and detailed sound with great imaging and sound stage, though better imaging was depending on seating position.

There was no problem filling the large room with music and all tracks played was easily enjoyed, even the classical tunes which are not always to my liking. Listening levels were louder than usual without being overbearing, with one track I tested peaking at 100db, and I was sitting 3 rows back. Only some rock tracks sounded a little sharp and edgy.

The clubs turntable, recently reworked by club member RJ, sounded amazing as well, especially for the little money spent on it to bring it back to life. It even managed to peak some interest from the digital guys, including myself.... Overall I think Dynaudio and Bryston gained some fans for sure.

Unboxing was fun, the Dyns were very securely packed, though setting the system up was not as taxing as first thought which gave us more play and warm up time before the meeting started.

Was also great catching up with ttn again, hope you enjoyed the day.

Till next month....

Thanks Al, yea definitely was enjoyed by all. There was a good variety of music played by the members too which really made it a fun day as well.

Are any of you Melbournites heading to old Sydney town for the show next month? Would be great to arrange a G2G to catch up with some of you lot again. Hasn't been anything happening in Sydney for some time, which is a pity as they're always good fun. I recall Matt (TCC) wanting to organise one at his Sydney outlet at some stage. Maybe we should twist his arm to offer a venue :poke::yes: .

Hey no problems, but yes, the main focus of the club is the enjoyment of music while having the opportunity to listen to different equipment and systems. Though having said that, confirmed presenter for our November meeting is Deep Hz with an SVS and Wyred 4 Sound set up. Actual kit is yet TBA, so keep an eye out for the posting of that one.

Seeing as your near the venue, your welcome to drop by again.

Might see you in November.
