High End Audio System - System update!

Recommended Posts

Thanks Frizzo and to the previous compliments posted.....

Cabling can be a pain. Keep them off the floor and do not let interconnects and power cables touch. Insert a Jenga/Ayre wooden block inbetween them if there is no other way.....

Cheers

Very nice system Darth, I was close to buying a pair of Vandersteen 5's a while back.

All you need now is a nice turntable and you will be in heaven :P

Thanks turntable.

The Vandy's are fantastic and I would love to hear the model 7's.......

Have you heard the 5A's before?

Ah, vinyl is amazing but not my bag. One pop, crackle and scrape and my mind goes crazy.

I reach beyond vinyl heaven on quite a few SACD's so I do still get to heaven on occasions! :P

A fine system.

You can enter your location in your profile settings. Good idea to at least have your city there.

have I heard the 5A's? No, unfortunately not

the 7's are interesting, a very similar size and the same bass system, the mids and treble must be a lot better to justify the price increase. Of course the cabinet is now a lot more expensive

Very nice clean setup Darthlaker. You got very capable marantz processor. Do you run any center channel at all ? Turntable is absolutely right. I bough 2 turntables for last couple months. These are best upgrade for my system

I am lucky enough to have heard Darthlaker's excellent room. Had trouble convincing myself to leave behind that great imaging and surround - like imaging. If I could only afford those amps !

Hi audioguy, thanks for your kind words.

No center channel at all.

In my opinion (pause for controversial drum roll) center channels are vastly over-rated and more often than not just cause your soundstage to collapse.

They have their uses in large rooms (particularly people with projectors) and/or if people watch movies off center axis.

Try telling your processor you have no center channel. You will still hear dialog dead center if everything is set up well.......!

interesting you have the diffusers in the corners,i use mine (aro)at the 1st and 2nd reflection points and bass traps in corners with absorbers in the centre behind speakers, the fives have a room equiliser ?

Hi colinm1,

In my room it sounded better with the diffusers in the corners.

The Five A's have a room equaliser which enable them to be dialed into any room....which is a very nice thing to have by the way! :))
