Tone arms should have a gentle curve to better fit the contours of the vinyl during playback. Even straight ones can be repaired easily by holding with both hands and applying equal pressure at the ends.

WOW! Don't let Mr Rogers see that ad. He loves the ME50 power amp.

Is it any good?

Well, it's subjective, however, I will make some comments:

* The gear looks original, but I would like to see some internal photos.

* Preamp looks like it may not have had an upgrade, so it really needs to be fitted with Alps pots.

* Both units require new RCA connectors.

* Both units will require a full re-cap. Figure on spending around $300.00 ~ $450.00.

*Since it can be demo'd, then it works, which is a good thing.

* The preamp has an MC card fitted. The best MC stage ever made? I think so. Others do not. Nonetheless, it is a fabulous phono stage. On that, everyone agrees. Easily worth a $1,000.00 on it's own. You get a free preamp and power amp thrown in!

* The ME50 is a simply delightful power amp. Some (like Mr Rogers) feel that it was the best power amp ever built by ME Sound. The perfect power amp for Quad ESLs? I believe so. Nonetheless, with 40 Amps of maximum current, it will drive most speakers easily.

* If it was in Sydney, I'd take a drive, lift the lids and probably buy them. I'd probably keep them and tease Mr Rogers.
