Guest
Looks like LOCK 0 is a normal thing for it to say: http://www.avforums.com/forums/3d-plasma-t...art-1-a-16.html Looks like this isn't the first TV you've had to play with too! http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd...esearch-15.html Oh well! Another thought, maybe you've managed to get the remote control in some strange mode (or mood) - have you pulled out the batteries and left it for 5 mins? Does the Source button on the front panel work?
marauderxp
lol, that old TV I had probs with wasn't actually my stuffup with that one. It did the common power cycling and the eeprom went screwy and some weird things happened and all the settings in the service menu went haywire. Yep tried leaving batteries out of remote. Source button works fine on front panel. As I said last night, most curious is how the number buttons will turn on the TV, but after that they're locked out. I think there must be a remote control key combo to unlock whatever it is.
marauderxp
I'm thinking maybe that watever combination I did put the TV into a mode for receiving remote control cmds from a service remote or something? I also put a thread on cnet http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-510692.html . Hopeful HDTECH may be able to find out some codes.
Guest
Yeah, must be something you can do.. but if worst comes to worst, while you wait for a Samsung tech.. At least you can still use it. I tried mounting my Windows share on the USB key using those instructions, worked perfectly... Seems that's a better way than using the share manager - no need to go in and press the update button, also I noticed the new version of SM keeps a file-lock on played files, so it needs to be restarted (the service) for you to delete old media files you've watched. I'll be glad to see the end of that.

marauderxp
Awesome that the windows share mount worked. Very jealous now lol. If ONLY I could type a damn number so I can create that internet@tv user arr. A tease. Numbers work when tv is off lol.
marauderxp
Only just thought of trying out the Blu-ray remote, but it was no good. The source button no function and power button on it for TV acts same as normal remote
marauderxp
There's bound to be plenty of code combinations between the remote and the panel buttons. Just need to find them! Look at these. These are for Panasonic, but no doubt Samsung would have similar: Hotel Mode Menu Hold "Vol-" on TV and press the "AV" button on the remote 3 times (use exit via on screen menu to exit) This seems to give you the option to turn the Hotel Mode on and a few related options to set when in hotel mode. Test Patterns Hold "Vol-" on TV and press the "Option" button on the remote 3 Times (Had to turn off on TV to exit) Seems to put the TV through its paces with various colours and test patterns being displayed Self Check Hold "Vol-" on TV and press the "OK" **OR** "Menu" button on the remote (both seems to access the same Self Check function). Had to turn the TV off to exit. It’s called the self check but pretty much just displays information about the TV
Guest
I notice you got another reply from the Samsung hd tech guy... Sounds like what I was talking about with the different remotes in the room. I'd be looking for more on that, I know it's not much help though. marauderxp
Hey thanks heaps for that. Awkward though cuz no iphone lol. I just spent a heap of time setting up my x10 ocelot controller that I thought had my old Samsung TV's remote control codes recorded, but nope. marauderxp
I might try see if I can find any IR hex codes for different models of Samsung TVs others have uploaded and test out with the ocelot. Maybe an IR of slightly diff model might do the trick
Guest
Borrow one, then do the firmware upgrade/reload/downgrade - which ever you want/need... Which might fix the remote issue. I did notice a couple of posts lower in that thread, it mentioned it's for the 2010 models with wireless - you may need a dongle, or the TV may have an RF receiver, I don't know. There may be an android? version too? Edited December 24, 2010 by Guest
marauderxp
ooh! I think I may have struck gold. I found some nice hex codes on here: http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboar...thread.cgi?6024 . Converted to LIR in IR-max, uploaded to Ocelot, and guess what? When I transmitted the poweroff, it worked straight away as it normally should. So looks like this way might work. Just need to find out what function #'s are for the button numbers, because of course on that big list it hasn't got those listed ar lol.
Guest
Maybe more for you to play with: http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/samygo/v...p;t=1121#p10109 "The codes for the remote have already been published in this forum. marauderxp
Thanks!! Trying to get it to emit one of them again. Converting pronto to LIR might not be the best I dunno
marauderxp
Well not much luck yet. Not sure if it's going to work. First thing I tried with it though was the poweroff IR code and that worked, but I tried the source button code and that didn't. Giving up for today. Will have to dig up those codes you told me about on Samygo Thanks again for all your help Jasoroony
Guest
Yeah, I had a look around for them, but I couldn't see where they were. From what the guy said, it looked like is was in some linux package which doesn't really make sense.. Maybe I could extract them from my putty access, but then they will be the ones for 'our' model TV which isn't working for you. But no problems.. I hope you get things going one way or another. CCRider
Honestly guys. The 2D pq on this set is exceptional with current FW. Given the limited amount of 3D content you really need to weigh up what you want to achieve here. The earlier FW had issues with colour balance as was noted by CHAD on avsforums. He was pleased with the later fw as it brought pq in line with last years 8 series. You watch a lot more 2D than 3D on this set and those of us who own 3D sets know that we seldomly utilise this feature for reasons above. Therefore I would wait for Samsung to do a fix rather than tamper with something that can if you do the wrong thing turn your set into a brick and in the mean time engross yourself in the great 2d PQ. Some may argue that it may never be fixed. Well "may" is not "will" so until "may" becomes a definite never "will" I would wait. I am very impressed with Jasoroony in doing what he did but I as much as gungho I make myself to be would never attempt something like this. Guest
Problem is, he's got the TV stuck in a bad state. Though I would have registered a fault with Samsung as soon as it happened, then waited for service and claimed my kid did it by pressing random buttons! (Big kid?!) Anyway, I'm pretty impressed with the SamyGO stuff. That whole share manager thing was a shambles, I don't know why there isn't this samba share option out of the box - faster to play and simpler. As for the remote issue, I've looked at the remote control files and they just seem to be mapping keyboard keys to remote functions! The Source and Menu keys are Fn keys, so there must be something else going on for one alone not working... I've found this file in the same general area, which describes different functions within the TV - maybe something will jog a memory of something that was changed in Hotel mode?? I didn't see anything, but it's interesting enough to post: # vi SpecialItemNumber.txt S_SPECIAL_ID_START = 0^M ID_OPTION = 1^M ID_ADC = 2^M ID_ADC_TARGET = 3^M ID_ADC_RESULT = 4^M ID_WB = 5^M marauderxp
Interesting list there. So those commands are issued through VI ? And I'm positive I didn't change any of the extended service menu settings. I've been playing with UPNPinspector/sniffer which offered some exciting stuff. The setmute commands etc actually do work. There's a whole test remote control commands section, but I haven't been able to get anything to work with the 'sendkeycode'. It is only numbers that can be used, but I've tried many things. Perhaps they're a big group of numbers for the commands, I don't know? If could find something for that, may just work. The communication is definately getting there, because as I said all the other things work like setting volume remotely. All I need is to command it to put a # in, then I'll be set. What other possible things can I do without that widget hack?
Guest
Naaa, vi is a text editor - the file was called SpecialItemNumber.txt so I loaded it up in vi to look. I noticed it repeated the first 22 items three times too, but hey I still copied it all out for show and tell. I didn't mean to imply I thought you changed any setting on purpose, however, by pressing those key combinations while in hotel mode something was changed. As for other things to try, I'm about all out. If you already had root (woot!) we could check out some files against my machine, but I think all the settings are stored in a serial chip eeprom which is harder to get to. So it wouldn't probably produce any result. If there's a setting to reset that eeprom, it would be a good place to start. Might look at SamyGO again, maybe there's something there... marauderxp
True, good point about the combination must've changed something in the extended menu (Hotel mode). Just wish I could reactivate it. I need to try and find out if the sendkeycode in upnpinspector can do anything useful. It seems to only accept numbers, but it has done nothing for me so far. I've been trying to do it through a netcat soap command, but it mustn't be right as it errors out: POST /RCR/control/TestRCRService HTTP/1.1 Host: 192.168.1.1:52235 SOAPAction: "urn:samsung.com:service:TestRCRService:1#SendKeyCode" Accept-Language: LC-ctype=en-us;q=1, LC-ctype=en;q=0.5 Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 335 <?xml version="1.0"?> <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <s:Body><u:SendKeyCode xmlns:u="urn:samsung.com:service:TestRCRService:1"> <KeyCode>1</KeyCode> <KeyDescription>152</KeyDescription> </s:Body> </s:Envelope> however the mute script works fine, but that as you can see is through one of the different upnp sections on the TV: POST /upnp/control/RenderingControl1 HTTP/1.1 Host: 192.168.1.1:52235 SOAPAction: "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1#SetMute" Accept-Language: LC-ctype=en-us;q=1, LC-ctype=en;q=0.5 Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 335 <?xml version="1.0"?> <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <s:Body><u:SetMute xmlns:u="urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1"> <InstanceID>0</InstanceID> <Channel>Master</Channel> <DesiredMute>1</DesiredMute></u:SetMute> </s:Body> </s:Envelope>
Guest
http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/samygo/v...start=170#p8839 "From my understanding Sub Micom is an additional microcontroller in the chassis which controlls Power LED, IR and the keys located on the chassis frame. It is described how to update the Micom firmware which becomes necessary from my understanding if the IR-Key encoding has been changed in main CPUs firmware." That's as close as I can find... The DDC data is accessible from the VGA port, in the service menu you can enable EDID to expand what can be accessed.. Then use a program from Samsung to read/write info. Looks like a service call to fix this sort of stuff though. Edited December 25, 2010 by Guest
