hobey123
Just an update.Clive Peeters rang on Tuesday and advised that Pioneer were unable to supply any further LX509's and refunded my deposit. They advised that Pioneer had told them that they couldn't say when or if they would be receiving further stock. Highly pissed off, I hit the phones and managed to secure a LX509 from Clive Anthony Castle Hill for the same price (last one!!!!!) with delivery confirmed for tomorrow. Sometimes the Lord works in mysterious ways Really hope this doesn't happen to me. Harvey's have said all their orders will be filled, but if they ring me next week and say "uh oh **** sorry we can't get any" I would be REALLY pissed. Fingers crossed no stuffups occur. THX1979
grab a KRP 500m - has more tweaks for picture control and more readily available downside is you have to buy a set top box and speakers and stand
jelliemillie
Hi Just letting you know, that the availability of the LX509 is currently at zero. Sorry for raising hopes, but it seems you have to be quick re these panels. Regards Jelliemillie PS If anything changes, I will let you know
Redav
grab a KRP 500m - has more tweaks for picture control and more readily availabledownside is you have to buy a set top box and speakers and stand The stand is a bit unfortunate and maybe the speakers however if the tuner is anything like the 08 model, then you're not missing out. A STB changes channel heaps faster.
raedur
just talked to HN (adelaide) yesterday and they are pretty sure they can get the LX's, he quoted me 5k, but not sure what it includes, the sales guy is ringing me back today. Really trying to work out whether to go for a panasonic 50" or just the pioneer, its a diff of $2k but not sure if it really worth it
Lunasa
Thanks for the heads up. Having spoken to Pioneer today, I was assured they will have stock coming in this month- albeit to cater for all backorders, followed by another cart load in May. The LX509 should be available until Sept - but only through specialists apparently .... the chick with whom I spoke sounded firm in the knowledge!! brucethebear
Really trying to work out whether to go for a panasonic 50" or just the pioneer, its a diff of $2k but not sure if it really worth it I had the same thoughts when I saw the 2 units side by side (under store conditions.) I bought the LX509 and am totally blown away by it. The PQ is absolutely amazing. Also, the way things are going, you have much better chances of getting stock of the Pioneer. Still crossing my fingers that my backorder at HN's is filled. I bought mine almost a month ago and I think I was the 1st or 2nd in queue. Just hoping they get more than that in to cover backorders. brucethebear
You mean the Pioneer is hard to find right? Yes - hard to find in stock. To clarify, I meant that both the Pio's and Pana's are on backorder everywhere. There are people who have been waiting for Panasonic's for 4+ months. Pioneer backorders seem to be filled in around 6 weeks. (I don't see any posts from people complaining that the Pio they ordered in January is still on backorder.) That was the gist of my post. FWIW, my order took about 5 weeks. Cheers, BtB
raedur
The guy at HN seemed pretty confident that he could get one in pretty quickly. if i can get a price lower than $4700 i think i will just get the pioneer rather than wait for either a current model panasonic or the new models to come out (probably >6 months away). It would be good to own the best tv in the world as well as a piece of history.

THX1979
cheaper in the shops- eg Klapp AV have a much lower member price The pioneer engineers had more months development time on th KRP series . People in the UK have told me (and one from US who signed a NDA) that comparing the KRP and LX series side by side the KRP was slightly cleaner and more detailed . Of course placebo effect plays a role in this A lot of calibrators have a KRP so theres a hint D Nice has stated that LX and KRP series use same glass and driving algorithms .Others have said the driving algorithms were improved for the KRP series. Who is telling the truth I dont know . In real terms i doubt you could pick a difference . Ive only suggested the KRP series because of 1. Readily available 2. more tweaks (eg muti point gamma adjustment) 3. Alleged less PWN noise BUT krp has only 2 HDMI plugs which is a real pisser Both TV's are stunning
