seadog
Not just a small mark up either, a $700 jack up on the 50" ! Anyone know if the other models are getting the same treatment? Pioneer are taking the piss now, they only just pumped the prices up in Jan. now another one. Edited April 3, 2009 by seacat

What you're really talking about here is the dynamic RGB LED backlighting that is used in the current 55" XBR Sony LCD. The LED backlighting replaces the fluorescent backlighting of traditional LCDs. The LEDS can be dimmed/switched off to allow for better blacks. Unlike flourescent backlighting it doesn't suffer from clouding, but can be subject to blooming effects due to the number of LEDS used being much less than the number of pixels. Here is a cnet review of the 46" version http://www.cnet.com.au/sony-bravia-kdl-46xbr45-339292441.htm Another one to look at is the Samsung Series 9, which also uses dynamic LED backlighting, though not RGB LEDS. You won't be able to create a thread until you have made 5 posts. I have a new Pioneer LX509. I have been playing a lot of Guitar hero. While I have been very careful, I have not seen any signs of image retention. I don't know about running a laptop however. Cheers, BtB

Chadstone only ordered in 3 LX609s, mine was one.By the way if the display model is still there it's only been there for 4 weeks.

manc01
So are there any left in the country??? If so where & for how much? If not what would you buy as an alternative?
Anden
So are there any left in the country??? If so where & for how much? If not what would you buy as an alternative? Ring pioneer direct , ask about current stock levels and any further shipments you may only be left with the C 509, i also suggest you ring every retailer you can think of including specialty hifi stores, you may pick up a demo model only but unless you start ringing around you'll never know. manc01
Hi there,Can you tell me which JB Hi Fi stores they were at in Sydney? Any other places besides Clive Peeters? I called JB & there are a couple of new ones in Qld but I am in SA & they would not ship here. There are 2 display models in SA. The ticket price is $8999 & I was told that I would be looking at $8700 for a demo unit that is 4-6 months old. So any other suggestions? I am wondering if Harvey Norman, or even Myer may have some lurking around somewhere in the country. The one at Clive Peeters was the wrong model. What about any online or specialty stores?
