Owners Thread - Samsung New 4 , 5 & 6 Series Lcd Tv

Recommended Posts

The $2069 price comes from the digitalcentre.com.au website. Myer must be pricematching to get the sale.

The digital centre is selling the 46" 650 for $2587 (plus delivery).

Look Here

Does anyone have any experience dealing with Digitalcentre? Especially Shipped DOA TV's or dead pixels? Return policy

I was able to secure an LA40A650AIF for $2000 flat including delivery from MYER Canberra Centre. A great price in my opinion!

Thats I great price! I hope I can get one for that price in Melbourne, time to do some bargaining.

Hi Folks

First time posting to this forum, but I have viewed members' contributions for some months now.

Based on input from this, and other forums and websites (like AVS Forum and HDTVtest), I made a decision to buy the Samsung 6 series. My decision was validated - at least from the looks perspective - on arrival in Myer showrooms of display models.

Room size is a significant factor, so I had to settle for a 40" model. With only the smallest amount of negotiating, I was able to secure an LA40A650AIF for $2000 flat including delivery from MYER Canberra Centre. A great price in my opinion!

This price was originally for a single unit, but I could not better it for the purchase of 2 - one for me and one for a friend.

Looking forward to delivery on Monday! Will be replacing my 18-year-old 26" CRT - due for an honourable retirement.

Wow.. You did very well :D You did Very well infact. Question, does it have USB on the side?

Does anybody know what Myer is like in regards to dead pixels etc?

Something interesting: Samsung on their support website have a LA40A650AIF and a LA40A650AIR.........

phoenix2391 yesterday Myer in Canberra quoted me $2695 delivered for the 46" 650 (no stock till next week)

That was without any haggling, so I think there was something left..

I'm waiting a week or 2 in case there are some bonus/offers available from Samsung.

Damn the 650x40" looks good. Just hope they have the 100hz motion flow fixed that seemed to bug the F81

Thanks for the info. I'm in North Sydney though, hopefully they will match that same price (or better). I found a buyer for my 32" 720 Samsung M51, for $650. I'll head to MYER as soon as I sell it this Friday. The price I was quoted from GameOn.net.au, was about $2750 delivered. If they have the 46" A6540 in stock this/next week, that'll be awesome!!!

**not sure if I should get the 40" or 46". thinking maybe the 46" is too big. I'm only slightly over 1 meter away... lol

The A650 does have a USB port on the side. However, in this series its functions are limited to Still Slide Shows, MP3 music playback and Firmware Updates. Apparently the 7 series can also play back movie files

Sometimes I like to sit 1 metre away from my 46 Bravia when playing games but only in spurts otherwise it makes me dizzy.

When I tried drink-driving in GTA4 it was vomit inducing and I really did feel sick for a good few hours :)

Bigger is better but there's limits!

Froku, did they actually have a 46" 6 series on the floor?

I'm still yet to see one in the flesh.

Cheers, Wags

No they didn't have a 46" on the shop floor when I was there, they may well do this weekend. I believe they had them at the warehouse tho.

I just went by to MYER and saw both the 46" and 40" and the 46" looks way too big for me. I think the 40" is big as well, lol. based on the fact I'm only about 1M away. I think I'm going to get the 40" tomorrow morning, from MYER. hopefully they would give me the same price as MYER Canberra, which is like $2000 - $2069 from what I hear from here.

do they have the TV's in stock on-site, or do they deliver it to you?

too much :( gonna have a talk with JB tomorrow, basically payed around $4,000, cos I was basing my pricing on the F81 series in negotiations, done before the a650 pricing was released.

but im pretty much gonna be ecstatic with it I think. the guy at JB said they just set one up in the store tonight and it looks frigging incredible, on and off. and if its anything like the F81 I will be cheering. I consider it pretty much a dead heat between the bravia X/XBR and the F81 series. save that the bravias cost so much more.

Yeah, I hope they come to the party with a bit better price for you.

At least you are getting it delivered super fast!

I've got the 32" 4 Series and im more than happy with it.

I've had it for a week yesterday and am still playing around with the picture a little but for the most part its set.

I sit roughly 1m from the screen most of the time and its crystal clear on HD TV, PS3 is crystal clear aswell (put it this way in call of duty i've gone from 5-10 kills/game to 15-25 kills :) )

Only complaint is the remote, its piano black like the tv and it gets really dirty easily and is ugly!

I just bought the 40A650, $2270 from qsense, very good to deal with, talked to them on the phone and picked it up within an hour of purchase.

The TV, what can I say wow, I'm impressed. Watch a few DVD's last night, even though they are standard def it looks amazing! Then watched a HD movie on 7 last night.

The 100hz frame interpolation seems fixed from what I have seen, it makes movies look a bit wrong, but thats the point, movies should be run without, simply because our brain expects it that way.

Color an contrast are impressive, all though I did notice some clouding when the screen was black last night (had all the lights off in the room)

There are million permutations of setting I have yet to play with, all most too much.

I recommend this TV ;-)

Feel free to ask any questions

I bought the 40" series 6 the other day for $2200 from Myer in hornsby along with a panasonic htib which was being cleared for $425. First of all, the series 6 did have better sound than I expected, but of course the surround sound system sounded better. I know everyone complains about htib but this one sounds pretty good, but thats probably because i have only ever had built in sound. Anyway, the tv looks amazing, great colours with good blacks, and you cant even see the red bezel when watching tv. I was disappointed at first with how the ps3 looked through the tv, until i plugged in the hdmi and it blew me away. Overall, this is an amazing tv to get. Only problem is, i've never have to set colours on a tv before. I played with a few settings which certainly improved the picture, but it is nowhere near fine tuned. Was hoping that someone could post their own picture settings if anyone has fine tuned theirs yet? Thanks heaps, hope this helped someone!

lcdtv,

When you noticed the clouding, what were you playing (FAT or DVD)? What player (DVD, HTPC, or PS3) and connection (composite, component, or HDMI) do you have with DVD playback?

Congratulations, by the way. Based on what I've seen from the web so far, it looks like a very attractive panel.

well, got the 52" A650 today, and what can I say, holy cow! I am watching casino royale (Blu) on my PS3 at the moment and it is simply stunning. the TV looks fantastic with the red in the light, and in the dark it looks close to black.

gotta go, will post more pics tomorrow :)

edit: oh yeah, the blacks are frigging incredible, in a darkened room I cant tell where the TV frame ends and the picture starts on the black bars....

I want this TV so badly :( I pray that rationality will prevail: I don't need a 40", as my 32" samsung r81 is sufficient in size, and I won't benefit much from full-HD.

 but it's oh so pretty :(
