Do most people leave their projectors on standby mode or turn them off from the rear switch. The manual says to turn them off from the back after cool down. I genally leave mine in standby because it is ceiling mounted and inconvenient to reach.

Anybody envisage any problems leaving it in standby mode?

Mine is always left in standby as we use it daily, no problems so far after approx 6 weeks

Question on Aspect Ratio.

Running Tosh XE1 HD DVD and Sony 500 Blu Ray via component. Can't seem to select "auto" aspect ratio in the menu. So its set to "normal". Alls well when playing HD discs(both formats) but if I put a widescreen regular DVD on, it is screened in 4:3 and I have to manually change the aspect mode. The players are adjusted to 16:9 . Can someone confirm this is normal for this unit?. I don't understand too much about the aspect ratio even after reading the manual(pg 18). I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I've had a TW2000 for a couple of weeks now and I've noticed the image is a little soft.

I'm using a PS3 and have tried component and HDMI connections. HDMI is sharper but even when I shrink the image size so movies are sharp, the PS3's menu screens look soft.

The projector is about 5m from the wall and I usually have a big image (around 2.5m) for movies. Should I move it closer in?

I haven't tried to calibrate it yet - are there any settings that might help?

It's not a major problem - blu-rays look great - but it's kind of annoying (my old benq w500 was sharper, I'm sure).

Has anybody experienced image softness and/or come up with a remedy?

Thanks,

Michael

im pretty sure you will fix this in the bluray menus and video menus of the PS3, there is a fair few differnt settings reguarding picture setup on the ps3 and it needs some tweeking, mine works perfect after a little tweeking, blurays look awesome, so far best bluray quallity image has been 'i am legend' 'casino royle'

enjoy

Well finally got fed up with the 'percolator' and turned the auto iris off. After a lot of close scrutiny there is very little advantage in PQ IMHO anyway, just a slight (and I mean very slight) change in contrast.

I reckon that such a mechanical (so noisy) iris is bound to fail eventually so better with it off.

It's interesting that they haven't fixed this as yet. The auto iris on my TW600 stays turned off for the very same reason, particularly as there is very little improvement in PQ with it on anyway.

The iris on mine is inaudible under normal viewing, the fan on low is louder. I have my projector non inverted on a solid surface.

Perhaps the inverted mounting causes greater noise, chassis deforms a tad?

Not sure about the TW2000, but the TW600 has 3 fan speeds with the middle speed activated when it's inverted. ie. low speed when inverted is faster than low speed not inverted.

Hi guys,

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new TW2000 tomorrow and am hoping you can clear something up. I was reading on another site that the PJ wouldn't work with a non-1.3a HDMI receiver. I will be running a PS3 into a Yamaha VX661 into the TW2000. I assumed that the HDMI specs are back compatible and that although I may not be able to access any 1.3a features (deep colour maybe?) it should otherwise be fine. Is that correct?

Thanks

Hope you got a very good deal on the TW2000, as the TW4000 should be out before christmas and at approx the same cost.

Yeah I did thanks - grabbing it at a "run out" and strong aussie dollar purchased stock price was what made me finally take the plunge. If the TW4000 arrives in numbers before xmas and at anywhere near the price I paid for this I will be very surprised.

But back to my HDMI question... :D
