[eoi] - Samsung 50" P9 Group Buy

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the useful information.

Just purchased mine at Myers for $3067.00.

I also got a Yamaha RX-V1800B for $1433.00 ($4500 for the 2 items was the deal). I had to pay $35 for some delivery and also get some extended warranty for that, but all up I am fairly happy with the deal I struck. My delivery date is the 19th.

FWIW - wandered into Myer @ Parramatta and showed them $2781 receipt (panel + 3yrs wty +delivery) asking to match .... was sent on my way with claims they couldn't do it as it was $600 below cost by the manager.

Can you or anybody with this receipt email it to me?

My email is wellyhan@gmail.com

Thanks

Hey, just registered to show my appreciation. I had decided to get the P91 last week and was about to pay way over the odds for the set including the free 26" LCD......

Thought I would check online at prices and came across this forum, a couple of days later strolled into Retravision and scored the set for $3000 plus 75 delivery, and they were fine with it, no questions asked.

Really happy, thanks so much for your efforts everyone.

All I have to do now is flog my old 42" Samsung SD on ebay and sell the free TV when I receive it and I'll score it for $1500 max.

Got my Samsung P91 50' in Myer Eastland Ringwood (VIC) for $2776(panel including delivery) + $189 (extended myer warranty)

Used the other receipts but couldnt get the 2557 under cost they said.

He wouldnt go any lower and led me to believe cost on it was not much below what i got.

very happy with the price.

Stock expected 18/1/08

Am looking to buy this tv hopefully tomorrow. Can anyone send this receipt to me (tatnal@australis.net)?

Ended up buying from Myer Highpoint $2746 + $289 for 5yr warranty + $35 delivery. Should be here next week. Can't wait. Been living off a 14" for the poast 6 months since our previous tv blew.

Thanks to Cable213 for receipt and all in the forum for the useful info. I would have paid $3100 just for the tv.

Hi guys,

First time poster, long time reader.

I know it's very "Last Minute" but could anyone e-mail me a copy of their receipt for a sub 3k price on the P91 Sammy? Any replies will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike.

Parents just bought the Samsung P9 for $2537 with tonyju626's receipt at Myer Hurstville (The place he bought it at).

They just had to show them the receipt and they honoured it on the spot.

Delivery due at the end of this month though.

Very happy.

P.S. I won't be able to scan the receipt since i don't have a scanner and my camera (phone) sucks.

But if you live in Sydney and thinking of buying a P9, go to myer Hurstville and they will do it for $2537.

Wow seems like the cost price for the 50inch has dropped, has anyone got a good idea what one could get the 58inch for. I noticed on digital center the price for the 58 has dropped to under 5k now.

I'm a shire boy too, so might try Hurtville myer to see if they can do a deal.

anyone else been able to get a good deal from Myers Hurstville or anywhere else for that matter?

Thanks to those that provided me with copies of receipts.

I ended up with one for $2537.

Myer Brookside and Chermside (QLD) were both happy to honour the price. The salesman told me on more than one occasion that it was a very good price I had - but I already knew that.

Also took the 1 extra year warranty for $199 (expensive for Myer I guess) and $35 for delivery.

Very happy - now the wait begins - they were talking 15th of Feb, due into their warehouse.

Can I get a copy of that $2537 receipt? :D

$2537 is the sort of price you can acquire the P91 for on Ebay, obviously a repaired versions with ONE years warranty, there are quite a few available if you want A fixedup one!.

some have been returned to the retailers FIXEDUP, buyer beware!.

Personally, unless it arrives in a BOX unopened, I would not touch it!.

I am not sure If I agree with you Colindale, for a retailer to sell you a reconditioned product, by law(??) I would believe you would have to be made aware of this, and you would be within you rights to ask for a refund/replacement if it has been reconditioned. I dont think a store like Myer would be try to pass reconditioned plasma's as new TV's, it wouldn’t be very good for their reputation.

** "some have been returned to the retailers FIXEDUP, buyer beware!." - By fixed up you mean the HDMI board and the noisy transformer have been replaced for a used model, you could be right but then who is to say that the P91 advertised at HN for $3999 is not a "fixedup" TV?

** "Personally, unless it arrives in a BOX unopened, I would not touch it!." - I agree, and I would second that by checking how long the plasma has been running in the system menu.

Although the $2537 price is brilliant, not everyone has been able to get this, a more realistic price for most people has been around the $2700+ mark, but with the growing reputation of Samsung having "issues" with the plasma's, I think there price will become more competitive to keep sales high... :)

Cheers

Andrew

PS Thanks gibby157 for a copy of the receipt!!

Hi,

Does anyone know the name of the salesman/woman at the Hurstville store?

I went to Myer City Sydney and the guy said he would match it, but they needed a name to call and verify. Otherwise they would only do $2600.

Incidentally he also said their cost price was $2400.

Thanks!

That's a good price, does that incl. delivery? The original amazing price from Hurstville was $2537 + $189 (1 addtional year warranty) + $35 delivery=$2741, so $2537 + delivery is $2572, so $2600 is not far off.

Well thanks again Gibby!

I purchased one for $2537 at Myer Northland (Melb), just walked in, showed the receipt and asked if they could match this price, salesperson called their manager to check, and agreed! :D

I also picked up the extra 3 year warranty to make it 5 years total, and I don’t think I got that much of a bargain at $528!? (HN had quoted $380) I argued with this price but he showed me the Jan 08 price list and mentioned it would be the same across Melbourne, I didn’t really believe him but didn’t feel like running around Melbourne trying to save $140!

In the end I am happy with the total price of $3076 with 5 year warranty, it beat the best price I was able to manage by approx $600 :D

Now waiting for delivery, expected to be mid Feb at this stage.

Sorry guys I don’t have a copy of the full receipt yet, just the sales docket, will let you know when I do.

No, delivery is also $35. It's still not far off, but if I can save an extra $63 why not! :)

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie here chasing the PS58P91FDX.

It sounds like 2600 (inc delivery) is about right. (2yr st warranty)

If we add another year (total = 3) we get 2800 ??

If we add another 3 (total=5) it seem 3k is about right ??

I'd be going for 5years. My cousin has put two lamps in his rear pro samsung at about 1300 a go

Every time I look at the 100Hz LCD's and hear about the plasma crackle I wonder if plasma is such a great idea....

I agree it's a hard decision -- I've been running around Sydney all day looking at TVs and trying to get some honest opinions from the dealers. Some prefer LCD to Plasma, others the opposite.

Here's what I heard:

LCD -- runs cooler, uses less electricity, very sharp picture but still some problems with sports and "motionflow" (despite 100hz)

Plasma -- runs hotter, uses more electricity (and thus costs more to run), no issue w/"motionflow", great picture for sports, great picture for SD TV.

I have been trying to choose between a Bravia 46X and the 50in Samsung p91. Ultimately I think I'll choose the Samsung because it comes with the extra 26in LCD and is cheaper. So basically for a little over $3k I'm getting one incredible TV and one little LCD, as compared to spending nearly $4k and getting one incredible TV and a blu-ray player.

Just my 2cents..
