intoHDtv
Not if you have to pay RRP for the TV! Just like the Retravison 'Holiday Dollars' promotion Amen.
pavman11
The free 40GB PS3 offer will be on in about a week or so (someone mentioned 21st Dec) and is being offered by Sony so you will be able to buy the TV from any authorised dealer at whatever price you can haggle and you will (by redemption I'm guessing) get a 40GB PS3 free from Sony. Today I was in Powerhouse at Woden, Canberra and I asked the bloke about it and he said he believed all X-series and I guess by default XBR series Bravias will qualify. I guess the best thing to do is keep checking sony.com.au over the next week to read all conditions. I will definately be buying a Bravia when this offer is on as I was tossing up between a Philips 1080p and X series but free PS3 seals it.

It is a Wega rear pro CRT, and the projection engine is intermittently failing. I can usually get it going, but it failed tonight and I haven't been able to get it going yet... So I really need a new one...

jasperdog
This has made my decision up for me. Was tossing up between the Samsung F Series and the Sony X. Yes a free 26 inch would be great, but my old T.V is still fine for the spare room. Plus all the trouble the new Samsung's are giving people, my decision has been made. The only thing to work out is a 52' or a 46'.
diesel
The only thing to work out is a 52' or a 46'. Buy the 52" if you can afford it.
jasperdog
Buy the 52" if you can afford it. Yeah thats what i'm leaning towards at the moment. Have ordered a entertainment unit which is 220cm wide so the 52 would look way better on it.
goldgxl
We are friends with the owner of a Retravision Store and he has said that "Sony Bravia's X and XBR series will have a free playstation 3 by redemption from Sony if purchased after December 21st". Have just cancellled my order for a Samsung 46" F series, as they can't deliver until next year sometime. Do you know if this offer applies to W as well as the X and XBR? lufc001
There was an ad for Retravision today in The Sunday Times (Perth newspaper), it said that this offer is running from 21/12/07 until 28/01/08 Should be good, I already have a PS3 so will make some more money by selling it which equates to more money off the TV! lufc001
Oh...so it is only valid from the 21st till the 28th ? Nope, it is valid from 21st of DECEMBER until 28th JANUARY 2008. So about 5 or 6 weeks in total. I think we should wait until the website www.sony.com.au/bonusps3 comes online though as there will probably be more terms and conditions. GEoMaNTiK
Well if this Bonus PS3 is the real deal and does actually happen, I'm definitely in!!! I've been told by a guy at JB HiFi that Boxing Day is the day I WILL buy a TV, without question as the deals are going to be RED HOT!!! So this news about the Free PS3 will just seal it for me and Sony will be getting my $$$ If I can crack a 46" X at a ripper price, I'll do it, otherwise I'll hit the 46" W, either way I'll have a smile on my dial when I crank up 1080p with Casino Royale on a Free PS3, bring it on!!!! Does anyone think going for the W series is a bad idea??? Is the quality ok and have their been any bad reports?

Aside from the 100Hz motion "flow" (which noone likes), it isn't missing anything other than a slightly lower dynamic contrast.
Almighty
Okay I have confirmation the PS3 deal is on. Must buy 21st or after (I dont know the end date). Its a redemption from Sony. A friend of mine bought a 46" Sony Bravia X on the weekend and he was asked to take deliver/pay for it Friday. When he does they will give him a form to fill out and send away to Sony. He told me he bought it for $3300 if you are interested. Edited December 16, 2007 by Almighty
