Recommended Posts

HOLD YOUR HORSES GUYS AND GALS...

new samsung lcd screen on it's way very soon...maybe 2-3 weeks...

details as follows...

Model: Probably end up being LA46F81BX

Resolution: 1920x1080

Contrast Ratio: 25 000: 1

In Korea the model has been released as 120hz but seems like australia will receive the 100hz due to frequency issues

all i can say is this tv will blow the sony XBR away....

oh right. only the americans get the 40" LED then.

As always, the Americans are privileged.

100hz brings it in line with the bravia, should be an interesting match-up.

Most likely just another failure like the moive plus.

Basically the only tangible benefit is the USB port (to some), tha't why same RRP as the M8.

I would like to see the new SAMSUNG VS the Pio KURO

Contrast ratios - 25000: 1 vS 20000:1

I hope you're right and its coming soon :)

According to this website HERE contrast ratios don't mean much as everyone cheats and does it differently.

Some quotes: Contrast ratio stands out as probably the most blatant and ridiculous example of irrelevant manufacturers specifications.

: Basically, manufacturer’s normal contrast ratio is worthless and the “Dynamic Contrast” ratio is doubly so.

: There is no correlation between the contrast ratio given as a manufacturer’s specification and the actual contrast that the user receives when viewing his or her TV.

: This stated, contrast ratios for plasma and LCD TVs have increased very well over the past few years. What I look for most in a picture is great black levels while not losing dark matter detail (i.e. the shading and wrinkling of a black coat). Extremely juiced white brightness doesn’t do much for you in your living room, but it does help LCDs look better on the showroom floor.

I'm no expert and am just offering info I have seen.

cheers

It would be good if the F96 arrives in Australia soon. I’ve been reading reviews and overseas forums for weeks and this TV looks impressive. The CNet US site recently posted an extensive review on the Samsung LN-T4681F here http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-and-pla...-ln-t4681f/.... and rated it 8.3/10 which was the same score as the Sony KDL-XBR4.

Both of these LCDS look great and it is hard to make a decision. Waiting isn't doing any harm though as the Sony's have dropped significantly in price already.

There is more information from owners of the F96 here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread....605&page=39.

so none of the 100hz screens really benefit from it? or do you just mean for samsung.

I have seen them, they look good but they don't blow away the X series sony's.

I put them on even par for PQ, it will just come down to wether you like the shiny black sleek look tv or the sony floating glass design.

Don't get carried away with the 25,000:1 contrast because it just looks the same as the M8 tv's to me.

yeah the contrast is never really worth looking at, they put ridiculous numbers.

so yeah, then i guess it's this 40F81 and the bravia 40x up against each other. i didn't think they'd be overly different, pretty similar specs.

the best thing is the prices are now getting awesome!

the americans always get the bigger and better stuff coz they appreciate it...

and the market is there....in australia.....not many people will buy it....

australians tend to love made in japan things...

as long as it says made in japan....they think its good so...

well....yeah....most sony lcd's are made in malaysia so....

i'm sorta confused...

One good thing about the release of the F81 is that it should push the M81 prices down further :) I saw a 46" M81 going for $33xx last week, if that drops even lower once the F81's come out, i will find it hard to pay more for the F81 for slightly better blacks, and the 100hz thing which that hdtv test review said adds artifacts and tearing etc, and they coiuldnt really see themself having it enabled. Any more ideas on F81 pricing? Someone above said $3400 for the 46" but then someone else said it will be the same RRP as the M81 is, which is over $4K
