To make it easier, put your TV model in bold and what player you connect it to as well. I haven't even started doing mine yet, but out of the box 'standard' looks the best. Will break out the DVE Calibration dvd and Blu-ray test patterns in the next few days. .................................... I watched "The Road Warrior" last night and though the clouding didn't bleed through on the picture it did on the credits and all the long fades to black between scenes. Most of the time, the clouding is more like an uneven grey that wants to be all black. Is this what everyone is experiencing and calling "no clouding"? I'm assuming you have the PS3 set to output in PCM mode (which is correct). I use all near standard (Picture - 80, Brightness - 50) but the 3 most important are Sharpness - 65 (Usually I would recommend a low setting, but this TV is naturally very smooth) Detail Enhancer - Low ( Low/Medium/High are all similar. On PS3, with OFF it looks very average, on low - high it crisp and close to my other TV) Advance Contrast - Medium (This feature gives the picture more depth and has a great impact) Motionflow used when watching sport, but otherwise all other enhancers are set to off Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You adjust each input to your liking and every time you view that input those settings will be used or you can select an input to use common settings. At the moment it is as follows. - Foxtel through video 1 - XBOX 360 via VGA through PC - Blueray/PS3 to come through HDMI but not for a while yet. So I guess I should post my settings so far. I first calibrated my 46XBR with the DVE calibration DVD. However, I found the settings / colour to be a little bit on the dull side. (I guess abit too natural). So I've settled for somewhere in between and this works quite well for me. Picture Mode: Custom (Vivid and standard modes will not give you full 1080) Backlight: 7 (Sony recommends between 6-8) Picture: 72 (calibrated from DVE) Brightness: 49 (calibrated from DVE) Color: 49 (calibrated from DVE) Color temp: Neutral Sharpness: 35 (calibrated from DVE) Noise reduction: Low (I've found some HDTV/SDTV have some noise which can be reduced especially if they are not full HD broadcast - I chose the low setting so I don't over process the image) MPEG noise reduction: Low (as above - I've found minimal reduction in PQ) DRC mode: Mode 1 (Reality 40 / Clarity 60 - I've found some subjective improvement in the PQ) Advanced Settings Black corrector: Low (may reduce PQ slightly by removing abit of details in the shadow areas but it improves the grey blacks - so in most cases, it looks better) Advanced C.E: Low (to boost the colour abit from the dull settings) Gamma: Low (as above) Clear white: Low (similar to the black corrector but for white colour) Color space: Wide (looks better for most situation - boost colour as well) Live color: Low (as above) Detail enhancer: Low (minimal picture processing to give the illusion of a sharper image) Edge enhancer: Low (as above) Screen menu Display Area: Full Pixel (to get 1:1 mapping in 1080 signal) Video Options menu Motion Enhancer: Standard (there is great debate on ME/CM settings, so I've settled on the recommended settings - works quite well for me) CineMotion: Auto 1 General Menu Light sensor: Off (I calibrate my TV to my normal lighting condition, I don't want my TV to change my settings) If you have any suggestions to the above settings, please let me know. What are peoples thought on Cinemation. I am happy with MotionFlow on my X52 with sport etc, but still not 100% happy with fast horizontal pans when watching HD TV. With Australia using PAL at 25fps and Film shot at 24 fps, surely we dont need it as much as the US guys using NTSC at 30fps. The funny thing is I am sure that Cinemotion sometimes fixes my fast pan problems on some shows and doesnt on others. Could it be because some were transferred from NTSC to PAL and therefore need reserve 3:2 pulldown?? I would like to hear what Motionflow/Cinemotion settings people are using when watching 7, 9 and Ten HD US based shows.
