beejean
Thanks for your help Hosko in setting up wiki. Everyone please follow the instruction given my Hosko to update your detail in wiki. That's a great method, save me so much time in updating the lists manually. Pm everyone. Let me know if I miss anyone. Will contact the retailer again either tomorrow or Friday to get more detail depending on how busy I am. Been very busy this few days. I will try to answer everyone's question this coming weekend if I can. Sorry, don't have too much time going through the questions during weekdays. Don't worry, there is still sometime before the TV is out. OK, I will put Hosko and CletusB in charge of the update list or help out anyone who do not know how to put their detail in wiki. I have been getting some really good deal, something you possibly can't get if you walk into any shops alone. I promise the retailers I won't reveal the price in the public forum. I will pm everyone who are interested regarding the price once I am more certain of the deal. I am still in the process of negotiating. I am confident most of you will be very happy with the price. Any idea how I can mass pm in this forum (saving me the trouble of pm one by one) - or maybe i can just copy and paste. Cheers Put me down aswell mate. Im looking at a 46" or 52" X/XBR (Hobart, Tas) Cheers Edited September 12, 2007 by Tiggs

Colonel Goeth
Very interested in the response to this question. Ive added my name to the wiki list. If you want a great lounge PC/XBOX/PS3 monitor and you don't plan on playing much blue ray or HD DVD and if you think you'll probably upgrade in 3 years or less then the D 40 or 46 would be the best way to go. Even after you upgrade the D40/46 would be a great 2nd TV for the bedroom or just a dedicated gaming/PC monitor. If you're gonna spend big and buy a BD or HD DVD player and lots of HD content over the next couple years then X will be worth the extra dollars provided your lounge chair is no more than about 2.5m from the X46 tv. Personally I would go for the D46 but since I just bought a HD video camera I'll probably go for the X46 instead to take maximum advantage of my HD camera. I'm wondering when Sharp will release the Aquos R series in Australia. I saw them in Japan recently (available there since March) and they are the pick of the crop but they will probably be more expensive than the Sony X3100. sikeveo
Mum says 46" is too big. Looks like it's the 40" XBR. I only sit around 2m from tv. Will be playing blu ray probably from ps3.
Hosko
Mum says 46" is too big. Ask a woman for an opinion was your first mistake. Just in case it wasn't clear that was a joke, well asking a woman for an opinion on electrical goods is always a mistake lol

tcross
for the people keen on a 40" X3100, what is the motivation to spend the extra cash over the 40" D3100? what are you guys/gals using the panel for? i have an XBMC + 360 that i would like to make the most of, with a healthy [or unhealthy depending on how your gf sees it] collection of dvds i would like to see upscaled, but mostly i watch various types of media files from the net. i only live in a rental so a permanent wall installation isnt possible, and its going to be in a pretty small lounge room so the most distance for viewing is 2.5 metres.i understand the desire for 1080p, but whats the point for a relatively small panel? surely 46"+ would be more beneficial for your hard earned? I am tending to almost agree with you on this point. For the extra cost which in relation to the total amount isn't so much, it is almost a bit of a cop out to go for the smaller model if you have the room. I cant wait to get my PM to see what the prices are. I will be happy to go and see my local AV regional manager to see if he can do better. Is there a person who is organizing the Melbourne side of things?
