Best Price For Samsung 40 Inch La40m81bd

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

a proud new owner of the 40" la40m81bdx

Just a few quick questions

with the LCD do you have to run it in for the first 100 hours eg, low values, contrast/brightness.

if so you please give me some settings please,

After that what settings do people use for free to air HDTV?

I am after the samsung dvd-vr355 which is a combination dvd recorder/vcr no internal HDD

the sales person noted that is region locked to 4 and all,

has anybody been able to unlock the region coding on this and able to watch region 1 dvd's

as I buy dvd's from the US much cheaper want to make sure I can watch them.

thanks

It's LCD - no need to run-in and do this and that. Those things are for plasma owners. Switch it on, get it out of "Shop" mode and enjoy !

About the VCR/DVD recorder, I don't think a DVD recorder makes any sense in the days of PVRs. If at all you want to get something, get a DVD recorder with hard drive and TV tuner. The reason I'm saying this is the convenience factor. If you just want to watch DVDs, better get a cheapo MTV DVD player from Coles. It plays everything, and I mean absolutely everything. No region issues, no MP3 problems, no DivX issues. I've had one for over 1.5 years and is still going strong. Costs only $40 on special.

I Just picked up an LA40M81BDX for $1750 from Bing Lee Carlingford.

They had it stickered at $1899 special and the salesman showed me on the PC that $1877 was the cost price!

I had tried Dick Smiths as they had it at $2296 their lowest they would goto was $2020

Bing Lee did have the LA40N81BDX for $1599

JB-HIFI would only go down to $1750 for the N81
