Samsung 1080p Owners

Hey

I was in the same situation and went for the M8 40' for the reasons already mentioned. Don't get me wrong the F8 is a great tv but I didn't believe it to be worth the extra money.

I'm very happy with my M8.

Cheers

Alex

How do we go about getting a firmware update for the M8? Any costs involved? Worth the update?

Hi All,

keen on buying the M8 40" best prices in the hills area in sydney was $2100 for the M8, anybody got a better price

noted the on the website ... www.theelectricdiscounter.com.au has it for $1819

if they have a receipt if around the $1800 before the cashback would be great.

if you could email me mcfleong at gmail com

As have a hard limit of $1650 from the BOSS!

have a limited budget, if I cannot get that price

would probably drop down to a panasonic px70a 42" how does that compare to the samsung PS42C91HDX

as they are around the $1300 price point.

cheers.

samsung 1080p is ment to have the best cristal display. and the black minimal edges suit me fine. looks good. offer was good at the time as i also got a free 19 inch. lovely. sound does sound crappy but thats why you need 5.1 speakers for true cinema experience. as for game mode i noticed less jolts and flicker by the motion blur that occurs when in game mode. over all 95% happy with product.

Hi all,

Does anyone have some optimal/recommended settings to try for the N8 series here?

Been fiddling myself and it looks pretty good but just after some other peoples configs I could try.

There was one posted in another thread for the R8, and they made a significant difference to my parent's tv.

Thanks in advance.

So property isn't the only thing that is overvalued, overrated and overpriced in the Hills District .....

I honestly can't see the benefit of buying a plain HD plasma compared to a Full HD LCD. However, if you are on a tight budget, the Panasonic 50" plasma is going for around $1750. I had seen the Panasonic 42" PX-7A ticketed at $1175 in Good Guys Alexandria so that's even better if you want to save money.

Otherwise, ask Myer to make you a deal on the 40" M8. Just ask how low they're willing to go because you have seen deals of $1500 on the N8 so the M8 should be close to that. Use this to match -

http://shop.gameon.net.au/p/377241/samsung...la40m81bdx.html

It's a guy in Sydney with a retail store selling it for $1799.

I don't think the grid-lines are anything to worry about if you're concerned about the TV being defective, I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be there even though at times they can make your display look terrible. All 3 of my M81's have displayed the grid-lines as well as white cloudy areas.

I was just wondering if there has been any news on this. I've just bought a 40" M8 and am finding that the gridlines to be very visible. I've got my 360 connected via component (at this point I wish I had a HDMI Xbox) and I can see the gridlines easily during dark scenes however even in the light areas it can be noticed. I've turned the backlight down to zero. Is this a firmware problem? I've seen a few posts around saying that people have been told it will be fixed by a firmware upgrade, but I haven't seen anyone post regarding the problem being solved. I am hunting around for a Xbox 360 VGA adaptor to bypass this problem, however they seem to be scarce nowdays.

"I honestly can't see the benefit of buying a plain HD plasma compared to a Full HD LCD."

It all depends on your viewing distance as to how you will percieve the image

just ordered the 58" P9 tonight for a reasonable price. however due to uncertainties with stock (currently out of stock and yet to confirm with samy), im considering changing this to a 63" P7. apart from size difference and err the price, what are people's opinions?

and would you say the price difference was worth it? thoughts please.

both the 58" the 63" plasmas have been discontinued with replacement models due late may early june ;)

Yes, the fact that it doesn't work till you plug it in !

Get it out of Shop mode first. Then, read the manual and tune both TV and DTV channels. Set up the contrast/brightness/sharpness etc to suit your tastes and your room. Switch off "Movie Plus" mode because it doesn't work that well. Use Game Mode for high-speed stuff.

Don't go by people's Contrast/Brightness etc settings because your lighting conditions are different.

I Have a Samsung 46"LCD and a Samsung DVDR155 DVD recorder both of which have the Anynet+ facility. So far neither I or the service agents have got it to work. They have replaced the main circuit board in the TV (no success) they now have the DVD player and are in the process of replacing the circuit board in that. Has anyone out there had any problems with the Anynet setup? Would like to hear from you

Mine works perfectly with the 52" LCD and the HT-BDT2

I hope you changed your HDMI cable first - that is the most likely cause. You need a certified 1.3 HDMI cable to make this work (note: many of the "expensive" Monster and Belkin HDMI cables are NOT 1.3).

You should buy one of the $25 HDMI cables from Fox on these forums - they definetely work.

Thanks for your reply........

I would like to hope I have the right cable as it was supplied in the box with the DVD Player by Samsung  . Incidentally does anyone know how to identify a 1.3 HDMI cable?

They all look the same.

Hey guys,

Finally ended up getting my bonus tv from Samsung promotions after I got my 50" P9. Quite surprised to end up with a 32" rather than the 26" that was advertised. Anyone else end up with one? There was no mention in the confirmation email I received from them that I was getting upgraded at all... Like I'm complaining! :D

Hi there everyone just wondering, i have bought a samsung m8 46" lcd and i must say im very impressed with the picture after having to change the Tv 4 times for being faulty eg: clouding, dead pixels, faulty hdmi, and receiving a used set in a brand new box (make sure you check stock from Samsung) with 158 hours already being watch by previous owner but after that i have received one that works a treat the only problem i have is everytime i play or watch a blueray movie on my PS3 and go back to digital TV by pressing TV/DTV button on the remote it comes back with no signal but if i press the button again i go back to analogue channels it's fine then if i press the button again it goes back to digital tv with no problems.

Is this a faulty tuner? and has anyone encountered this problem.

Thanks.

Me again i have also realised that with the new firmware dated NOV 07 you have to turn off the 24khz on ps3 or it comes up with mode not supported just want it to make everyone aware of this.

Good question - dont know the answer.

But it is worth the $25 to buy the cable from Fox - honestly - they are great cables - and it'll rule in/out the cable as been the problem.
