I just got the Q9 50'' plasma for $2900 at Sunshine Retravision, I initially ordered the 46'' M81 LCD , but decided the extra $1000 wasnt worth spending. They also seemed to be happy to do free delivery.

TV is fantastic, couldnt be happier, will write a more detailed review when I get some free time .

Anyone fellow Q9 owners mind sharing their preferred settings ?

Thank you Reiko, Any other suggestions?

Not at this time mate

I picked up the 50" Q9 on Friday from HN Bendigo, got the (very reluctant) salesman down to $2960 which I was happy with after having been quoted $3050 from Good Guys. Didn't get a chance to set it up until Saturday night and haven't had time to do anything except turn down the settings and watch the footy. First impressions are very good though, I'm looking forward to getting the first 100 hours or so out of the way so I can experiment with the settings and get the best out of the TV. Will hopefully pick up some Blu-Ray movies tomorrow and give it a good workout.

Hey Reiko,

Did you get extended warranty with that price?

No, I usually do but Samsung have a 2 year warranty on the Plasmas, and I figured that by that stage I'd probably be ready to upgrade again given that the prices on Plasmas and LCD's are falling so quickly. I was offered the extended warranty for $240 which was cheaper than HN's normal 10% of sale price deal.

I didn't have any problems watching the footy on Saturday night or Sunday arvo with blur.

Just wanting to know if it is possible to hide any cables you plug into the side of the TV. I would like to use s-video as that is the best connection out of my Austar box, but I don't particularly want them to be seen.

Hey guys, just recieved my 50q91 yesterday, looks awesome!

New review on Cnet (8/10)

The good: Produces deep blacks with excellent shadow detail; accurate primary colors; numerous picture controls; great range of burn-in protection modes; extensive connectivity featuring three HDMI and one PC input

The bad: Glare-reducing screen could be more effective; color decoding desaturates green; some false contouring.

The bottom line: The picture quality of the Samsung HP-T5064 places it among the top tier of 50-inch plasma HDTVs.

p.s anyone else pairing this with a Samsung Home theatre? I've got the TQ-85. Haven't read the manual yet but I don't think it upscaled the DVDs automatically, plus am trying to figure out the best way of routing tv sound through it

p.p.s annoying that no antenna lead was included in the box!

Turn down your settings (cont/bright/etc.) If it is at the default high, all fast moving images will seem blurred.

How do people rate the black level in the Q9, I can see some back light even if I reduce the brightness and contrast to 0. The back light is slight annoying when the video source

has horizontal or vertical bars. Otherwise I dont notice it at all.

seeing as those in this thread are discussing the 50" q91 plasma, i doubt they have any backlight issues whatsoever......

Yes, the side inputs are actually recessed quite a bit, so you probably won't see them sticking out at all.

Cheers,

morkli.

Just wondering, are those the same as the aussie models? PS50Q91HDX ?

The Oz model at entique PS50Q91HDX looks a bit different? But then Samsung site has it listed with Q91 and it looks like that one reviewed PS50Q91HD as seen on Samsung Oz but no X on the model shown ... so which one is the Oz version .. I'm confused!

Since quite a few of us now have this TV or are waiting for delivery, I thought I'd start a new topic.

I've had mine for almost a week and am very happy with it so far, especially the PQ and black levels.

Cheers,

morkli.

Hi to all,

I'm in the Frankston area of Melb. I'm looking to buy a Q9 in the next few days. If there's anyone else looking to do the same, maybe we can get together and look to getting best price.

Cheers!

The Oz model at entique

etique clearly has the wrong image...

http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/plasma/sa..._ps42q97hdx.htm

http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/plasma/sa..._ps50q97hdx.htm

both those are reviews for the current Q91 model plasma's available in Australia

both great tv's....

but personally, and i actually am...

I would be holding out a week or 2 for the upcoming

PS42C91 and PS50C91 panels...

same panel/processing, different 'anti-glare' film on front(which i dont like anyway) and 2 HDMI not 3(big deal)...and cheaper...42" easily sub $2k without trying

see here for review

http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/plasma/sa..._ps50c96hdx.htm

local models will look like this

Interesting. The review is a cut of paste of the Q9 though, let's face it. Be interesting to see if the Filterbright Vs Ultra Filterbright really will make a difference. I wonder if it will be substantially cheaper than the Q(7/9) series...

cost difference of about 250 bucks if memory serves me right, which is about 8% cheaper on the 42"....

trust me, once these hit the shelves, there will be c91 threads instead of q91 threads, unless you really need a 3rd hdmi input its not worth it(plus i think the c series looks better, kinda like the sharp lcd's across the bottom)

look on avsforum for reviews on the 4254v4264 or 5054v5064...

from reports, unless you have a bright room, the filterbright is better than the ultra for more natural colouring, plus the ultra has a slight purplish tinge to it, not easy to notice when on but its there....

Does anyone know what the Samsung rated half life is for these panels? LG usually post theirs in the specs as 60,000 hours, haven't seen the half life mentioned anywhere in samsung specs?
