I don't think Bing Lee sell the Q. Maybe some other stores don't as well. When I went in there a couple of months ago they also told me that the Q isnt being built anymore. I think because they dont sell it they tell people its a discontinued model. <_<

I think that before (last year) there was quite a difference in price between the C and the Q and people werent buying them for the few extra features offerred. Now prices have dropped I think more people are looking at the Q.

there are settings listed in this thread a ways back I believe and yes mine has a slight lean to the right as well, I measured it to be about 3.5 mm on mine.

Bought it from JB at Macquarie Center in Sydney.

They did not have the C model in so ended up giving me the Q9 for tiny bit more ... I was so happy ...

Ended up paying $1792 for TV plus $229 for extra 2 years warranty. I also bought Jamo speakers so thats why I got the discount although I haggled the speakers from $799 down to $580 :)

bear in mind, he would not sell it for such low price without me getting the speakers but he discounted those as well ...

It's not faulty that is just a side effect of the panel, both the ones I've had have been like that.

I got my screen yesterday ! its amazing, so huge !

I've got a question ... I seem to have to switch to Wide Zoom mode whenever I am watching a movie through my mediabox (which is set to 720p and running through DVI to HDMI cable).

If I leave it set at 16:9 the picture is sort of stretched left-right ...

any thoughts why that is ? its just annoying to keep switching the setting whenever I want to watch a movie ...

I'm thinking of buying this TV, but one thing that it must have is a 'full' or 'zoom' feature that will fill the screen when watching DVD/BD (remove those black bars top 'n' bottom) without stretching or distorting the image. I know the equivalent Panasonic can do this, can the Samsung?

I'll tell you why they don't get the mention and exposure of say Krix...

...it's all about marketing! As has been mentioned before Sonique speakers are indeed some of the better local gear and can compare favourably with anything in their price point IMHO but they are one of those local companies that just don't spend the big $$$ on advertising and marketing, hopefully all that money goes into R&D instead!

Sadly i also think for whatever reason the name 'Sonique' just doesn't seem to conjure up ideas of quality - i have had several friends question their origins and price-point when i have recommended listening to them... As has been mentioned maybe they are suffering from prejudice related to JB's Soniq brand???

I think also Krix have benefited greatly, at least in Australia by deciding to sell through Hardly Normals... sure it irks me but you just can't buy the exposure and public familiarity that comes with selling through a big chain who market themselves as HT specialists!

Of course Krix also have their Cinema heritage to draw on from a marketing point of view and have been exporting massively, especially to the US since very early in the piece. Put all of those together and you would expect them to be Australias best known speaker brand

Anyway enough about Krix etc... Sonique speakers are definitely worth an audition and represent great value. I agree they seem to be designed with accuracy in mind far more so than being big and impressive sounding (a character most of us grow into embracing eventually ) and i agree with Kiwi that a decent sub is the perfect foil for any perceived lack of bass extension (which is why my next speakers will likely be largish standmounters in the guise of Paradigm Studio 40's, B&W 705's or even Soniques 550's - at this stage )

Great thread Roxy! And another great Aussie (SA! ) product... hopefully you are bringing them some much deserved exposure...

Ah.............I think you got the wrong tread buddy???

Are you referring to the "reflection moire" effect associated with the Q series?

I have read that it is caused by the Ultra FilterBright system.

This link shows an example (scroll down to screen uniformity section)

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Samsung-PS50Q97HDX/Benchmark.php

Some people notice it and others don't - I can't confirm it since I have the C series.

Do you have a pic showing your problem?

He's refering to horizontal pixel light bleed. If you use your tv as a PC monitor its most noticable. If you have a white background with black horizontal text - like a word doc or imagine inverted movie credits ... the black from the text leaks horizontally so the areas on each side of the text is a darker shade of white than the areas of the screen that has no black in the horiztonal region. You only really notice it on static or slow scrolling text with a white background.

It's a downside of these panels and is quite normal - as i said I'm on my second panel now and both have experienced it.

nope nothing to do with that , my panel ghosts horizontal lines . Say a person is standing in front of horizontal blinds , the blinds extend across the persons face and distort the persons facial colours . it makes a shadow . even menus on foxtel ghost left and right
