Hypnotoad1503559952
Just got back from DS Powerhouse Nunawading and although I wasn't really paying attention I think they were selling these for $1699 - but for this weekend only Not 100% sure on the price - only glanced at them as they were next to some 42PX7As for $1799
MC DUI
Ok so I've managed to get Myer in Charlestown (Newcastle) to agree to the $1,750 price but only if I get an extended warranty on top. They want $229 for a 3 year warranty or $399 for a 5 year warranty. Can anybody say whether these are good value warranties? I was thinking of going for the 3 year warranty, anybody had any experience with Pana LCD's in the past? Any issues? Should I really be going for the 5-year one? MC DUI
Bump - A reply on my warranty question would be great before this arvo, probably head in to grab this offer today.
SCAT01
In my opinion its a rip off that you have to buy the warranty to get the Tv at that price. Havent had any problems yet with the 600A nor the 700A. Have had panasonic products ( for example DVD recorders, etc) for a longtime now and havent had any problems. I would say that if you dont want to get the warranty tell them you will meet them half way and get it for $1850 OR just walk out and tell them to get stuffed. Buts your money and you should make the decision whether you want the warranty or not. I dont know why they wont match the price seen as its Myers in both cases
THX1979
where are these LCd's made? Whats it look like with a Bluray or HD-DVD source interms of motion blur ? Please and thanks
SCAT01
where are these LCd's made?Whats it look like with a Bluray or HD-DVD source interms of motion blur ? Please and thanks Tested the 700A with my PS3 (Blu-ray included) I am now able to up to 1080P both in games (if avialable) and movies. Ridge Racer 7 and Virtua Tennis 3 both look stunning in 1080P and no moition blur. The contrast is great and is a great improvement over the 600A because the 700A has darker blacks. In terms of blueray movies, they look great and no motion blur so far. Even if you set the aspect to Zoom 1 on the TV while watching a blu-ray movie it still looks stunning. I dont know why they wont match the price seen as its Myers in both cases I tend to agree but the reason behind it was that the other people that have gotten the $1,750 price point have purchased warranties and other items to get that price. I ended up going with the deal because I was going to grab a warranty anyway, just wasn't real sure what sort of prices people were paying for warranties these days. To anybody that wants the same deal I got you can get the TV with 3 years warranty for $1,979 at Myers. They were willing to give me a price of $1,899 for the TV without the warranty but I figured I may as well get the warranty on top to be safe. Can't wait to bust it out tonight and give the Xbox360 a whirl on it.
SCAT01
Here is some photo's taken with my camera phone (2 mega pixels) not the best pictures but they give you an idea http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image088.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image086.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image083.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image082.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image081.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image075.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Tim...01/Image068.jpg

Gaven83
Doubt it. Panasonic use IPS Panel's made in collaboration with Hitachi I think. Completely different panel technology.
Darcy1503559832
I did not have to purchase extended warranty to get my price of $1749. As you may already know extended warranty is paid out to an external insurance company who then pay Myer a commission. These warranties are often not honored - especially if there is a major problem! Read the fine print and tread carefully. Before purchasing from Myer its not a bad idea to get a Myer1 card. This is a free card that accumulates points from every purchase. The points from the 700A are worth about $25.00.
MC DUI
The remote for this television seems to be using the same frequency as the Panasonic TH-50PV500A plasma that I have in the same room. Is there a way to use different frequencies for each TV/remote or are they stuck using the same??
bezita
Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum, it helps me alot to choose my next HDTV purchase. Btw, I decided to buy this Panasonic 32"LCD 700A after reading the forum and looked at the Dispay. I got it for $1749 at Myer in Chadstone, hopefully I can pick it up today. What I did yesterday just called couple of Myer stores, and told them that one of the guy in Sydney able to get this 32" 700A for $1749! The sales rep had to discuss with her manager, then two more calls later they agreed to sell it at this price, wooooohooooooo!!!!!! I did not expect gonna be this easy to negotiate the price down! Then I gave my CC details over the phone. I reconfirmed wih sales rep the product code etc...., and YES it is the new 700A!!!!! Also, Myer at Hightpoint willing to do it for $1800 cash, but I did not try hard enought becuase they said I only able to pick it up Thur or Friday. Harvey Norman in Chadstone not willing to negotiate over the phone and when I asked whether they can match the $1749 price, they just told me to come to the store... #$%#$!!! I will let you guys updated once I picked her up!!! Cheers, Bez
skin
Awesome price bezita! I'll be in a position to buy in September so hopefully I will be able to go even lower than that. I look forward to reading your impressions.
bezita
Yay, I picked her up this afternoon. Installed the unit straight away. My first quick impression, PQ is VERY good IMHO and the sound is very good as well. Btw, on the receipt they wrote the price is $2199 minus discount $450 = $1749. I'm glad picked this 700A. Before, I was going to get samsung R8 but after comparing them side by side..., I think everyone can tell the PQ on this Panasonic 700A is much better than samsung R8. Also before, I was also interested to get Philips 32" LCD, but I cant get any stores to lower the price below $2000, as far as the PQ Panasonic vs. Philips, I think they are on par. Glad did not buy the Philips because I can save lots $$$!!! I will play around with the settings, but I think even out of the box the settings are good enough for my eyes. Grunter1503560097
...Havent had any problems yet with the 600A nor the 700A. ... Do you have a the 32" in both the 600a and 700a? If so how do you find the backlight and true blacks between the 2? Whilst I can't fault my 600A generally for what it is, I do find that the blacks arn't good at all, and was hoping that the 700A would show a good improvement. garyinoz
Good to see these prices, been looking today and best I got was $1999, looks like I will have to pay a visit to Myer, which Sydney store was offering it at that price, closest to me is Chatswood but the city is only a short train ride. First though who can convince me to spend the extra money over the 70A. Im looking to get this unit for the start of English premiership so will buy next weekend so it has to be in stock. I've looked at the website and compared the two and it seems to list different picture technology. Help me get this unit at a good price, especially with the cost of the cables, to wrap it all up for 2k would be great!
Gaven83
Just got my latest Good Guys Catalogue and the 700a is in there. $1999, less for cash. That's the lowest ticket price I've seen so far.

Help me get this unit at a good price, especially with the cost of the cables, to wrap it all up for 2k would be great! Go the 700A. For not that much extra, you get better sound, and the motion picture pro, which is (apparently) a step forward for LCD's and how they handle fast motion (ie sport!). The other main difference is the aesthetic, but that is obviously a personal thing. Oh, and the SD card slot can be handy to show the rellies your digital photos. Remember that with a TV, you will (hopefully) own it for a long time. If you buy the 70A and are not quite happy with it in say 3 months time (though I'm sure it is an excellent set), you'll be wishing you spent the extra. Just my 2 cents worth, from experience. I bought a 42 inch HD panasonic plasma - wish I'd spent the extra on the 50 inch!!!!!! (I need to let it go, I know, but at times it just bugs me )

Guest Danny Boy
They just don't make them like they used to. The 700a is made in China. That justifies the low price tag. This is a step backward for Panasonic LCD TV's. The 600a was made in Japan. Damn you Panasonic I hope this trend doesn't continue. I'll wait patiently for the 800a.
