pksw
I was referring to price The final prices haven't been announced yet. If you wish to sign up, do so in the other thread, or PM Ice Magik. I'm not sure whether the final price will be publicly listed - it may just be a price range, and people can decide on whether to put a deposit down or not. Everything else is just speculation and people expressing an interest at the moment. Everyone is still searching for the best prices - so if you have a good price let Ice Magik know. The next best price retra can do is $2774 Have to agree that my local Retravision wasn't sure how another store could sell at $2575, so Wraith01's deal is fantastic. I did check the Retravision extended warranty - unfortunately it's one of those policies that only covers up to the purchase price. So if the TV broke down and cost $1800 to repair, and then the same thing happened a year later - you'd only have $775 worth of "insurance credit" left. And if the TV was completely replaced, the extended warranty is unlikely to continue on to the new TV. At $299 (11% of purchase price) for the policy I'd just take the risk and buy it on a gold VISA and get a year's extra warranty that way. And for anyone interested: Panasales has: Panasonic Viera 42in Plasma HD TH42PX70A VIERA TH-42PX70A NEW $2,299 ONE ONLY! INTERNET BUY! Serpeant
Hi MR08,I'm in the hunt and tossing up between the Sammy Q9, the PX70 (though the Mrs has all but ruled that out for it's not so 'designer' look) and the PX700. Improvements I have been able to find so far for the PX700 over the PX70 are: - Additional HDMI input on front of panel (for total of 3) - Addition of SDHC Card Slot (for photos only I beleive, not video?) - C.A.T.S. (Contrast Automatic Tracking System) - adjusts contrast automatically based on ambient lighting conditions - PIP/PAT/PAP (2-tuner) - SRS TruSurround XT processing - Smart Sound Speaker System (31 W (15.5W + 15.5 W)) - said to be very good quality according to UK reviews - Swivel pedestal stand - Made in Japan (apparently the PX70 will not be for much longer...) - UNCONFIRMED: there is mention of an anti-glare screen coating in this model for continental Europe, but it has not shown up on models released in the UK, so until it is seen here, I am not sure about that one. It's not in the listed spec anyway. Given that you are able to get online pricing for the PX700 as low as $3,199 (see earlier post on previous page), it's pretty good value still even over the PX70, that is assuming you would utilise the featured improvements as shown - I know I would be. Cheers, Doc. 1. If I am using an Onkyo amp/receiver with 3 HDMI inputs, why would more than one HDMI on the Panasonic 700A be useful for me? 2. Is it confirmed that the PX700A has an anti-glare screen? 3. Why is 'Made in Japan' better than 'Made in China'?

neK1503561480
Looking on the panasonic website, it states the 50px70a has a life of 60,000 hours. How accurate is that figure? And is the 700A life of 60,000 hours too?

The third HDMI slot is nice to have but at some point you're either going to AV receiver or if you're desperate, a HDMI switch...Either way, it's not worth a premium. 2. Anti Glare. It's actually a very good anti-glare screen. That said, if you don't need or have problem w/ glare, it's not a big deal at all. The 700a should be at most 200 more than the 70a....it's around 400+ right now..

soundsfuzzy
Picked up the TH-42px70A from GG at Highpoint for $2060 plus $199 for 2 year warranty, got the last one now they have 40 on backorder. The sales guy said prices are going up due to a lack of supply in the country, both Panasonic and Samsung.

At $299 (11% of purchase price) for the policy I'd just take the risk and buy it on a gold VISA and get a year's extra warranty that way. Fine if you have Gold VISA (but then that's only 2years coverage & I don't have GOLD so no point getting it for about$98 yearly membership on GOLD for 12mnth extra warranty), but now I have almost $2600 worth of repairs in the bank for the next 5yrs, which hopefully I will never need, and if they do replace it, then the new unit would come with it's own 12mnth manufacturer's warranty. So still a good option as I get a new unit for $299, unless within 1st 12mnths as then the extended really would be wasted. If after 1st 12mnths and repairs in excess of purchase price, as I understand it, they have the option of replacing with similar or refunding me purchase price. Still good as in 2,3 4,5yrs time I am sure 50" plasma would be even cheaper and newre technology. Beside not willing to risk big repair payout from my own pocket after 12mnths. Guest techo_freak
I'm trying to get a 70A Japanese made set, I think I may have found one and the price is around the $2,800 mark. The group buy 70A models will most likely be the new Chinese made ones. I don't like the look of the 700A so that is out for now. This price seems OK to me (I've also seen the group buy price). But not sure if it is worth it for a Japan set. Thoughts?
