i completely disagree on some comment regarding waiting for a new product to hit the australian market since by the time this product will be here there will be new ones coming out ... if thats the case you will be kept on waiting and waiting and besides new product will be too dear compare to the ones thats already on the stores. well if thats what those people would like to do just keep on waiting theres nothing wrong with it.... be on the waiting list all your life... thats only my 2 cents opinion... dont take it personally... thanks

Waiting can save you a truckload of money though . I picked up a Sharp LC42PD7X for $1700 on the weekend without any haggling .

April / May definately seems like the time to scoop up last years models for half price or less .

Sure the new model may be better but certainly not twice as good to my eyes .

I'll be doing the same again in probably 3 years time when I want something bigger and better .

Biggest gripe I have with this panel is that it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping . Totally useless as a HTPC monitor IMHO . I assumed it would as it had a DVI port meant for computer oinput . I've tried powerstrip so that at least I can see my whole desktop but the Sharp just goes "Out of Range " .

Does anyone have a solution for this ? (Tried 7800GT , X1700 , 3850 )

Have to agree about the skin tones not being so flash but otherwise it's very good for an LCD .

I'm a tool , it does indeed do 1:1 pixel mapping through the dvi port .

You flip down the panel on the remote and press the wide button then select dot by dot .

Now very very happy .
