Teac Lcd Brilliant

Recommended Posts

Well that's just great. Does this mean all of our warranty's are void if they've filed for bankruptcy?

I'm going to have to talk to my retailer (JB) and see if they can help me. Anyone ever had any luck in dealing with JB returns/exchanges after 2-3 weeks? I'm guessing my chances might be slim.

I get the feeling that I'll just get the runaround when dealing with Teac service on the phone from now on, the fact that they told me to call an outside technician company about my problem and that they can't help me doesn't give me much confidence in them.

I'm happy with this TV, but I'm not happy about the idea of possibly owning something that has had its warranty totally nulled

No! :D

On 1 September 2006, TEAC Corporation of Japan agreed to sell their Australian operations to TT International: a large Singapore consumer electronics company.

Part of the deal was that all warranties for existing TEAC products in Australia would be honoured. You have nothing to worry about. All existing TEAC owners are covered along with a guarantee of spare parts for repairs.

TEAC Corporation of Japan will continue to design and develop products, leaving the sales and distriibution in Australia to TT International. They intend to take the TEAC brand name upmarket. The recent release of the "Identity" LCD TV's that everyone seems to like is the first part of this strategy.

They want you to think of TEAC as a quality "budget" brand.

TT International are a large company who specialise in providing consumer electronic products from fridges to TV's for companies to sell under a variety of different brand names. They were obviously after TEAC's distribution network in Australia, and the fact that we have a free trade agreement with Singapore would have been a plus to them as well.

You can read all about it on TEAC's Australian website (under "Media Releases").

Buy the TV you want and enjoy!

Thanks for that, the way people panic at any mention of changes of ownership etc... just of local distributors at that, without realizing how many changes like this happen with big brands all the time.

Thanks for making us all nice and comfortable with our purchases though :D

So not a wise idea to buy the 4235a then?

I need to purchase a TV shortly, preferably one of the bargain names (for now) and a minimum of 32". Of course would prefer a 42!.

I saw this demo'd in JB the other night and it looked excellent, but that frame is damn ugly!

*if* the 4235a is being replaced, i'd see what they are replacing them with, but I wouldnt trust the word of a salemen as far as I could throw a chunky-ass Monster anti-"noise" powerboard.

as said.... 'if' it is being replaced then i would imagine (as everyone seems to keep forgetting) it will be the next gen Amoi tv... which apparently has dynamic backlight etc.. but i havent seen any firm specs.

remember guys this is not manufactured by teac.. so chances are the next one wont be manufacturered by teac either!

i wont go into what experience i had with the sales guy over this.. or them in general.. but lets put it this way.. he was wrong.. and fought tooth and nail to prove he was right.. at least the guy that was dealing with the sale basically said.. im clueless on TV's as its not my area.. so i cant be much help! honesty i prefer

Thanks

Steve

I would definitely look into it further if I were you. If you could confirm with Teac that they are indeed not shipping any more of these models to stores then you should really be able to get a great price from a retailer, since they more than likely will have 1 or maybe 2 sitting out back that they'll just want to get rid of. They won't tell you of course if they know whether it is a discontinued model or not, but if you're armed with that info it might allow you to push harder for a lower cash price.

It depends. If you're not that desperate at the moment and can wait a few months it might be worth seeing if there is a newer 42" released in the new year.

Sorry guys but im very new to hdtv. Iv got one of these Teac LCD4235a ($2900) tvs and the image seems to blur with certain movement with a movie for example. Is this because of the reponse time as i though a 8 reponse time was suppose to be pretty good. Will this be fixed if i hook up a S-video cable?. I really only got it to play game and watch a few dvds. I got it for the PS3 as it displays 1080p, but i noticed when i hook up my Ps2 the pictures dosnt seem all that great. You help and knowledge would be aprecidated.

If you're using a composite connection (red, white, yellow) then you're probably going to get a sub-standard picture and perhaps the motion blur you describe. If you haven't already, try using component (green, blue, red) or HDMI if your DVD player has it. Otherwise yes, S-Video will give you a slightly better picture as well, but you're better to go component over that.

Also PS2 doesn't look great on the majority of HD displays, especially ones larger that 40 inches, at least through regular composite connection. You'll find that PS3 or 360 will look far, far better (obviously).

Yes i am using the composite cable (red, white, yellow). I will go and get a set of the green, blue, red cables tomorrow and give it ago, as my dvd player dosnt have HDMI. Thank you very much for the advise strange_one.

Yeah i done that before, when i was trying to figure out what to do. I like these new tvs but the old tvs where so much easyer to use. these new ones have 100 different things you gotta do to them.

im looking forward to playing some Blue-Ray dvds on it and hooking up a PS3. That the reason i bought it.

Where can I find Teac LCD4235A in Sydney? I just bought a 60G PS3 and two games for $1050 in Sydney. Now I need a cheap 1080P LCD TV for my PS3

I know JB-Hi Fi sell them. Campbelltown had one left but it was a display model. And Liverpool had one left also but that was a display model also. (unless they got a new batch in) They were selling them for $2900. But i got a brand new one for that price, so if ya wont a display model one you might be able to get them to drop the price a fair bit. Ring around some of the JB-Hi fi places and maybe they have some new ones left in stock.

How did you get a PS3 did you import it.?

Hmmm... I want the brand new one

The seller in Sydney imports PS3s in bulk and I just bought from him. There was only two units left when I pickup up mine two days ago.

Is LCD4235A discountinued? When will the new model be available in the market?
