Duff Man
Was reading through the Foxtel IQ remote manual and couldn't believe to find that it can be programmed as an Universal Remote and also has the function of a learning remote. It can be programmed up to 20 functions per device. Check out pages ( I think ) 9 to 19 on the REMOTE MANUAL HERE. I'm going to give this a try on the weekend and see how it all goes. They don't tell you this possible when you get it installed.

ozdoc
The original learns just fine.....just can't figure out how to stop the damned blank screen when pressing AV ?! Kinda makes the whole alternate controls useless !! Just press the AV button while not pointing it at the Foxtel box, or cover it with your hand etc. After pressing once, you are in AV remote mode and can now press away. Press Foxtel button to return to Foxtel remote mode.

JavaJoe1503559621
Crude but effective... Thanks To switch to the foxtel av on my tv I use another crude but effective method. When I'm watching the input from my HD STB and want to switch to Foxtel I do the following steps. 1. Watching HD STB on tv HD1 input 2. Press AV button on IQ remote 3. Press any button from 1 - 9 on IQ remote 4. Press Help button on IQ remote and it switches to AV1 to view Foxtel. Saves me going, press AV, and then press help button on IQ to move through HD1, HD2, TV, AV1 The IQ remote also controls my VCR. I put in the code for the vcr and used the Learning function to make the setup button on the IQ operate the counter display function for the vcr
Honest Gaza
Is there an equivalent code for the IQ box that can be put into another remote ? I want to use my Yamaha Remote to control the Foxtel via Video Sender/Receiver without having to take the IQ remote to the other room.
ozdoc
I'm am not aware of any code. You may have to manually teach / asign the Yamaha remote each foxtel remote function (assuming the Yamaha remote is a learning remote).

Nope....it is the one that came with my Home Theatre Amp...which includes various codes for TV's,VCR's etc...but none for Fox.

ozdoc
Gaza, a bit of a "Hail Mary" pass here, but try the following codes: 0046, 0176, 0296, 0936, 0956, 1306, 1566, 1576. According to Yamaha they are the codes for Yamaha RX-V596RDS model, for the PACE satellite tuners, which essentially should be the same remote as the terrestial version. However the Yamaha might have predated the PACE box. Tim

The remaining codes weren't accepted by the remote at all.
ozdoc
I'm out of ideas. Perhaps email Yamaha Australia directely with the details of the PACE box. I got the codes from their jp website: Page iii of codes. RX-V596
component1503560324
Hi all, I have an old AKAI VCR remote with some buttons that no longer respond when pressed. After reading this thread, I'd like to use my Foxtel remote as a replacement for these 'dead' functions. But I can't teach the Foxtel remote because nothing comes out of the old remote. Is there a way to: - find out what the code is for the 'dead' function on the VCR remote? - enter that code manually into the Foxtel remote? Thanks in advance. ozdoc
Component. Assuming you have the IQ remote, try imputing the Akai VCR codes into the IQ remote, rather than teaching it each function. Akai VCR codes for IQ 0065, 0134, 0343, 0670, 0081, 0203, 0069, 0048, 0380, 0268, 0376. To program the remote 1. Press AV on the IQ remote. 2. Press and hold the select button, then press and hold the red button. Hold both down until the LED on the remote flashes twice. 3. Imput the four digit code. LED should flash twice again. 4. Point and try. (eg play button for VCR play). 5. Keep trying the codes until one hopefully works. It won't provide all of the functions of the original remote. Some of those old VCR remotes were pretty funky. Which functions are you missing?

Honest Gaza
Slight change of course here. Although I can't get my Yamaha Remote to mimic the IQ Remote....I have found a program which allows my Palm PDA to perform the Remote functions of all my equipment (including the IQ). Not quite what I was after...but it's something for me to play with

ozdoc
is there a site where they list all the learning codes for various tvs, vcrs etcetc? Assuming you mean the codes to enter into the Foxtel IQ remote, then yes... it's in the first post of this thread! Foxtel IQ remote The codes are not the same for every type of learning remote, so you have to have the manual for the remote.
