Brand new R series which has some impressive specs:

-Built-in High Definition Digital Tuner

-Electronic Program Guide

-Stunning design

-5000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio

-12.8 billion colours

-8ms refresh rate

-500cd/m2

-176° viewing angle delivers a perfect picture from almost anywhere

-HDMI™ input

-Game Mode for optimised HD gaming

I was about to say why dont they include 2 hdmi's then i realised that it had inbuilt hd tuner!

It has a hell of a lot of colours for an lcd and i like the design much more than previous models.

Hmm.. I kinda like the older design better of the M61 model. Not a big fan of the triangular lower frame.

Any idea if it's going 1080 or still 1366x768?

I went into JB Hi Fi today and they said they had no M models left and he showed me an email that said they were doscontinued and about to be replaced with this new range. Should be in stores within a week or so I guess if they're not already.

In built tuner is a bummer if you were going to go down the PVR path.. Just extra cost that won't get used.

Most likely 1366x768 since the rrp isnt a ridiculous price and probably wont get full 1920 x 1080 any time soon

Ah true

Has Digital Audio out

1366x768 resolution

I have been waiting for this set for awhile. Its the same as the UK version but with the HD tuner included.

Will wait to see it in-store to see if the picture is good then ill be purchasing one for sure.

Game mode will be great as the current version has a little lag due to the digital processing of the image. This version will be much better for HD gaming.

How long until this hits stores?

Has Digital Audio out

Does that mean the tv speakers get a digital input (which would be cool because youll be getting digital quality rather than a crappy sound from stb to tv speakers via crappy rca) or is that just a spdif output for a reciever?

What does this game mode do? does it reduce the pq processing to get a faster picture?

It has an inbuilt HD STB - so yes they get digital sound.

Game mode turns off picture processing features such as DNIe to ensure that the tv responds instantly to the signal, instead of processing it first.

I think the current run out model is a top buy at the moment. A great picture for the price and sexy.

Now that the new model is just around the corner I think I will wait for this new LCD :D . The warranty is better than most also.

A built in tuner is a plus for me as I'm sick of all the boxes (STB,DVD,VCR,FOX,AMP) IN MY HOME THEATER SET UP. Also I'm not ready to fork out big bucks for a HD PVR just yet!

I like the new look, but agree with Cameron_S regarding the M61 model. It is a great looking tv.

Any idea if it's going 1080 or still 1366x768?

I have had a quick glance at the manual and note the following;

Page 5 from a table under "supported modes for DVI or HMDI",the maximum (50Hz, 60Hz & component) is 1080i.

Under the table on page 5 there is a comment;

"-Do not attempt to connect the HDMI/DVI connector to a PC or Laptop Graphics Card.

(This will result in a blank screen being displayed)"

The specs on page 36 lack detail, to such an extent that there is no reference to the native resolution of the displays. Max PC resolution (by VGA I assume) is 1360x768@60hz.

It is therefore likely that these units are 1360x768 native resolution displays and the best PC connection available is VGA.

Thanks again XLuke

a few silly questions , in bunbury wa we will only have sdtv not dhtv, and analogue, I assume that sd can be shown by a hd tuner as well as the analogue stations.

Price.... I know rrp is 2999 but thinking .... $1800 - $2000 will be available by christmas then i'm in... will issue this challange to HN, retravision, and Betta electrical, see who wants my CR card the most:)

If you do get one, let us all know price and wht you think of it.

thanks.
