Good to hear they've all arrived safe n sound, i must apologise for the bad speed of road freight to WA, at least they did eventually get there!!

A couple of people has shown interest again (well two at least) if another 3 are prepared to join in, i can make this happen again..

Cheers,

Steve

No need to apologise, we are used to delays for freight over here.

Thanks again for organising the deal.

As my house is not quite ready yet I chucked it on the coffee table for a quick dead pixie check. And even projecting onto a brown wall (no joke) the boss was still impressed (that was from an Xbox spitting out 1080i from media centre) with a dodgey Valiant Divx.

Can't wait to get it set up for real

Can some one tell me why I can buy this projector on US ebay for about the same price as you guys got, including a replacement lamp, a 92" screen and delivered to my door? I know its ebay...

I saw one of these today in a specialist hifi store, who doesnt sell cheap stuff, and it was $3800. The sales guy tried to convince me that it is a good price and the RRP is well over $4000.

Why are they cheaper in the US? RRP is $2200?

Bigger market?

I cant understand it.

Is this for real?

" Why are they cheaper in the US? RRP is $2200? "..........deflepper

Is that $US dollars if so that would be roughly $2900 Australian or at whatever the current exchange rate is at the moment.

There would of course be no Australian warranty if you did buy it overseas.

Man I shouldn't post on here when I'm pissed. Re-reading what i wrote barely makes sense.

I can buy one of US ebay for around US$1700 including an extra bulb and a screen.

That converted $2900 RRP is still cheaper than the $4400 RRP I see here.

I understand the warranty and all that, but it seems a bit ridiculous that our RRP is $1500 more than theirs

deflepper,

if you read back through the thread, on page 3, i stated, Sanyo's RRP is $3000 here in Australia some stores are plainly greedy, and do remember it is Recommended Retail Price not Must sell at this or else..

Regional stores generally pay more in freight and handling than metro counterparts.. not sure if that applies to your own situation

Cheers,

Steve

Also, have you added duty, gst, freight and shipping to Australia in that Price, as well as cords for 240V as the Z4 uses PITA Clover Style Connector, not a generic IEC..

I will openly declare i am biased here also

Sadly yes this is for real... I went through the same annoyance and irritation with the Australian marketing of Optima projectors (an H30) through Amber Technologies (the Oz distributer) and to a lesser extent Infocus. I settled on an Infocus 4805 at that time because apart from it having similar qualities to the H30 its price was closer (though not the same) as that which it sold for in the USA.

As for the Sanyo Z4 - I was one of the purchasers from Rising Phoenix and was very happy with the way the purchase was handled. Initially I held some concerns about havbing to pay upfront but I talked with Steve of Rising Phoenix and was happy to do business with him. The PJ arrived very quickly and with luck I should be able to have the first screening in my new HT real soon!!

If Steve (RP) is able to repeat the deal he put together last time I'd say you would be hard pressed to beat it.

Cheers,

Steve

I know the z4 for $2400 is a great deal.

Unfortunately my budget doesnt allow for quite that much.

If it was $500 cheaper i could probably talk to boss around, but so far I am aiming to only spend $1500 max on a projector and screen.

So I really should stop reading this thread, it will only make me bitter

You might check out the Infocus 4805 - with the new infocus models just released the 4805 is bound to be on special somewhere - some Ebayers have had them around $1400. There's a lot to be said for not getting totally wrapped up in the latest is greatest technology race - the 4805 puts out a pretty amazing picture and although in the longer term higher resolutions will have more available content to view at the moment you'll probably be watching standard DVDs or SD digital TV most of the time.

Cheers,

Steve

Well, you need to convince CFO that buying a SD projector is a short sighted purchase, you should stretch your budget to find either Hitachi TX100 or Panasonic AE700 which are still available from places like harvey norman for just below $2000. With HD-DVD or Bluray coming out next year you will probably

regret if you buy a SD projector now and then decide you want a HD-DVD or Bluray. I think you should

wait and save a few more weeks.

Hi Rising Phoenix,

I have already indicated that I am keen for the deal and boy am I am glad that you posted here again  (yay).

I was just about to order a Z4 from Price Japan but given that this deal might happen again soon I would much rather support someone from this forum (and more importantly an Aussie vendor! :P )

On another note, I have a friend :P who is demoing the Z4 over the next few days. If she likes what she sees you can count me in for 2.

I will let you know.

and then there was one.....

Heres hoping all goes well, because if thats the case, it means... "One More"

Hopefully there is at LEAST one other interested person at this point in time..

Last purchase, there where some who where a bit sceptical about buying online off the forums, maybe they would still be interested given the feedback of the last purchasers?

Lets see how we go guys, there are certainly some keen buyers..

Cheers,

Steve

PS Once again, at this stage i apologise, from Friday afternoon until Monday evenings, I'm blowing bubbles underwater and am nowhere near a computer!!

Hi Paul,

Same as before $2,400 + courier shipping (Depending on your location) including GST, Tax Invoice, and Australian Warranty..

Cheers,

Steve

EDIT: BTW, if anyone is in the transport industry, they may see Mermaids as the worst thing imaginable.. At least thats what i was taught, though i had better not repeat the saying as to why..

Let me just say RTA Weigh Bridges were meant to be known as Mermaids!
